A Sunday for Rejoicing Today s Gospel story of the prodigal son is a favorite of many. We can identify with all the major figures and their crisscross of emotions. The father s initial grief over his young son s avarice is turned to relief at his return. The son s grief over his loss of fortune, family, and friends is turned to delirious joy at the sight of his father. We understand the eldest son s bewilderment over his father s generosity. For the older son, virtue seems not to be its own reward. For all his honorable toil and loyalty, there seems to be no celebration. The father, however, is prodigal in his forgiveness and mercy. He expects the same generosity from his older son. He wants all to rejoice when the lost one is found. This is a Sunday for rejoicing. It s time to pause, consider, and encourage one another. We are the prodigal children heading home. We are the elder siblings waiting with the eager Father, who scans the horizon. In Christ Jesus we are reconciled to the Father and one another. In his death and resurrection we have passed over. We are a new creation. In this we rejoice. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. Lenten CD's Available! Are you looking for a way to shake up your Lenten journey this year? As Lent approaches, are you wondering how you can draw closer to our Lord and more fully understand His sacrifice for us? Do you have an extra 45 minutes this Lent to hear something that could be life changing for you? The Lighthouse Catholic Media CDs are a great way to deepen your faith as we head into these 40 days leading up to Holy Week. This month, we'll be featuring the following CDs: My Beloved Son: Meditations for Lent; Bishop Robert Barron gives 5 sermons on topics to help us cultivate the spiritual discipline we should all strive for during Lent. The Passion of Christ in Light of the Holy Shroud of Turin; In this fascinating CD, Father Francis Peffley presents the new medical and scientific evidence for the Shroud's authenticity. You will never think about what our Lord suffered in His Passion the same way again. Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist; Dr. Brant Pitre explains the connection between the Jewish Passover and the Last Supper and, ultimately, the meaning of the Eucharist. The Fourth Cup; Dr. Scott Hahn explains how Christ's sacrifice on the cross fulfills the fourth cup used in the Jewish Passover as he draws a symbolic parallel between the Last Supper and what happened on Calvary. The Seven Last Sayings of Christ; Dr. Scott Hahn shows us the deeper significance of our Lord's carefully chosen words from the cross. Look for more in-depth reviews of these titles in the bulletin in the coming weeks...and be sure to stop by the kiosk for these and many other great CDs. Easter Memorials Please consider a memorial or honorary donation for flowers to decorate our worship space for the Easter season. Many of the flowers will remain in our sanctuary for the First Communion Masses during the ensuing weeks. The names of your loved ones will be printed in the bulletin at Easter. The requested donation for each plant is $10. Please complete this information request and place this form in an envelope with your offering. You may place it in the offertory collection or send it to the Parish Office. Orders must be received in the office by March 15 for the names to appear in the bulletin on Easter. Thank you for your support of St. Anne and for adding to the beauty of our prayer environment during the Easter season.
