First News...FUMC in Meridian June 2017 As I write to you, my church family, I find myself in the middle of a season of life when it seems like family is always around. First we gathered the extended family together for my Grandmother s birthday in early May, then Mother s Day, then Abby had her dance recital and before I know it, Father s Day will be here. This time spent with family has been a blessing to us, and because we eat often when we gather as a family, it has given us the joy of praying together with our extended family much more than we normally get to. As I prayed with my family I was reminded of the power of praying for my family. So, as our calendar turns to June and Father s Day quickly approaches, I m going to invite you to pray for your family, God s family. Pray for the people you live with and are related to. That they might experience the love that God has for them in and through you. Pray for our FUMC family - as we prepare for VBS. Pray that we might touch the lives of the kids who join us for VBS with the light and love of Christ. Pray for our broader Methodist Family. As we prepare for Annual Conference, pray that our churches might be places of inspiration and transformation where the church is so alive with the presence of God, that their communities are forever changed. Pray for our Mission ministry partners with PUMP who have become like family over the years. Pray that this year s trip would be a holy moment for the students who go, and for the families they serve. Pray for our broader Meridian family. Pray for our recent MHS graduates as they set out to make their mark on the world. Pray for your friends and neighbors, that they might know the love of Christ, and that you might hear God s call to bring them with you to church this summer. As scripture says, pray without ceasing because when we pray our spirits are shaped by our creator, and we become more attune to where God is leading us as individuals and as a church. May God bless you and keep you, as you pray for our family! Pastor Daniel
