Junior Achievement visits our school Recently 3rd through 5th graders enjoyed, JA in a Day. Volunteers from Nokia, BP, and The Hartford taught them about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career readiness using Junior Achievement lessons. Each grade participated in interesting activities to reinforce the experience. In 3rd grade, the students learned about zoning and built a model city. Our 4th graders were taught about natural resources in the United States and worked together with classmates to develop a product available in different regions. To become familiar about innovation, the 5th grade students came up with ways to redesign an existing product. To learn more about our programs and to schedule a personal tour of our school, please contact Meg Olsen, Marketing and Enrollment Director, at molsen@sspeterandpaulschool.com or 630-718-2214. Mother s Day Project Right Here Right Now by Patrick Madrid It's profound to consider what hangs in the balance when we share our faith with others. Patrick Madrid, in his highly engaging manner, speaks from a lifetime of experience to help Catholics effectively share the truth about Christ and his Church whenever the opportunity arises. Fantastic! This message is not only relevant but invaluable for Catholics giving witness to the Faith today. Brian - Fort Meade, MD Patrick's talk encouraged me to share my faith with others on a daily basis. Janet - Ottawa, ON His story was something I could relate to and get hope from when it comes to sharing my faith with others. Katherine - Whitefish, MT Once again, we are joining with Companions Journeying Together Inc. to provide packets of stationery and note cards for women in prison. Saint Vincent de Paul The heart of Jesus preaching is the Beatitudes. They speak of basic attitudes of being and dispositions in life. Vincentians are Beatitude people: they opt for the Beatitudes that confront them with decisive choices concerning earthly goods. The Beatitudes purify their hearts in order to teach them to love God above all things. Vincentians understand Pope John Paul II s words: The Beatitudes are a call to action. Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and its patron, Saint Vincent de Paul. All of the good works we do are informed by our four core principles: Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. The Knights also have an insurance program that has a top notch rating. For more information, please contact our Grand Knight, Tom Rogers at 630-818-7818 or our Membership Director, Nick Thompson at 815-871-4218. The Kaycee Cub Hall is available for parties and meetings. The Naperville Knights of Columbus meets there on the first Tuesday every month. Contact Al Knoeck at 630-369-2992 for more information. Our aluminum can collection has been a great success. It has provided us the funding we need to support our priests and seminarians. Please continue to drop off your aluminum cans next to the trailer behind the Kaycee Club Hall. The Transitional Housing Ministry currently supports four homeless families including four single adult women and a total of nine children. Your donations in the pink envelopes continue to support the efforts of the mentors to provide food and living accommodations, and could not be more appreciated. We also thank you for your many thoughts and prayers in support of our clients. For more information on the Transitional Housing Ministry, please contact Tom Dorn at 630-270-7303. RUN! RUN! RUN!
