Reformation Minute: The Elders highlight a passage each month from the Lutheran Book of Concord, which is the definitive Lutheran confessional. You are encouraged to read the full article/part from the Book of Concord for a more complete understanding. Augsburg, Article V, The Ministry, p33, [1] So that we may obtain this faith, the ministry of teaching the Gospel and administering the Sacraments was instituted. [2] Through the Word and Sacraments, as through instruments, the Holy Spirit is given [John 20:22]. He works faith, when and where it pleases God [John 3:8], in those who hear the good news that [3] God justifies those who believe that they are received into grace for Christ s sake. This happens not through our own merits, but for Christ s sake. - Citation taken from Concordia: The Lutheran Confessions-A Readers Edition of the Book of Concord by McCain, Paul T, General Editor - https://www.cph.org/p-11428-concordia-thelutheran-confessions-a-readers-edition-of-the-bookof-concord-2nd-edition.aspx
Night of Hope The annual fundraiser for Greater San Marcos Youth Council was held at Three Dudes Winery on April 26, 2018, and was attended by 3 couples from our congregation. A lovely meal of salad, roast beef, prawns, potatoes and a vegetable medley was served. Wine tastings were included in the cost of admission. Festivities included live music, raffle and silent auction. Nena Meadows was honored for her 25 years of devotion to the children served by GSMYC. Individuals typically only last in this type of career for a few years. Nena has shown these kids a gentle love, and many have come back as adults to praise and thank her. The shelter houses children who have been removed from abusive or neglectful homes. God bless this ministry
