Weekly Newsletter MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL: CELTIC NEWS 3/2/17 IMPORTANT DATES: 3/3 3/4 Instructional BB (LES) 3/8 Mass Gr. 6 3/10 3/11 Instructional BB (BES) 3/14 Skating Party 3/15 Lenten Penance Service (NO MASS) 3/16 St. Patrick s Day Dress Down Day 3/17 3/18 Instructional BB (BES) Pope Francis' message for Lent 2017 Dear Brothers and Sisters, Lent is a new beginning, a path leading to the certain goal of Easter, Christ s victory over death. This season urgently calls us to conversion. Christians are asked to return to God "with all their hearts (Joel 2:12), to refuse to settle for mediocrity and to grow in friendship with the Lord. Jesus is the faithful friend who never abandons us. Even when we sin, he patiently awaits our return; by that patient expectation, he shows us his readiness to forgive (cf. Homily, 8 January 2016). Lent is a favorable season for deepening our spiritual life through the means of sanctification offered us by the Church: fasting, prayer and almsgiving. At the basis of everything is the word of God, which during this season we are invited to hear and ponder more deeply. I would now like to consider the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (cf. Lk 16:19-31). Let us find inspiration in this meaningful story, for it provides a key to understanding what we need to do in order to attain true happiness and eternal life. It exhorts us to sincere conversion. FACTS IS OPEN and accepting applications for the 2017-18 school year. Last year s tax returns may be used when completing FACTS. Virtue of March- Mercy: Caring for those who suffer. Every person is Christ for me, and since there is only one Jesus, that person is the one person in the world at that moment. Saint Teresa of Calcutta This month, we focus on mercy. Let the words of St. Teresa of Calcutta inspire you to see Christ in every person you encounter. Whether it s your children, spouse, co-worker, or even that one person that you would really rather avoid, try this month to treat them as you would treat Jesus. For Jesus tells us in Matthew 25:40, I assure you, as often as you did it for one of my least brothers, you did it for me.
