BABY ITEMS DRIVE Under the direction of teacher Kim Vanderwerff, our Parish School Eighth Graders held a very successful baby items drive during the week of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Diapers, baby food, and other essentials were donated to the Lake Geneva Food Pantry to help keep babies fed and comfortable. We re very proud of these young people who are making a difference! THANK YOU Dear St. Francis de Sales Parish, Hope your holidays sparkle just as you blessed the Lake Geneva Food Pantry with your generous donation last month! We are amazed at all your parish does, bringing donations most every week and this is awesome. Many, many thanks to your caring hearts that reach out to those in need in our midst! Lake Geneva Food Pantry PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY We would like to invite experienced knitters and those who crochet to join in our Prayer Shawl Ministry. As you knit each stitch, the shawl becomes a prayer for the person who receives it. The shawl reminds them they are surrounded by God s love and gives comfort by the prayer of others. People who receive the shawls may be undergoing medical procedures, experiencing loss of a loved one, have serious illness or recovery, severe emotional distress or the birth of a new baby. Everything needed will be provided: the yarn, pattern and even the prayers said while working on the shawl. Donations are also welcome. If you are interested in working on these shawls, please contact Elaine J o h n s o n a t elainejohnson1@hotmail.com or 262-949-6524 or Lois Maywald at allomay1959@gmail.com or 262-279-5733.

CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY FAMILY Lake Geneva Knights of Columbus invites every family of our parish to engage in the Consecration to the Holy Family. St Francis de Sales Knights of Columbus council 1647 will be handing out Consecration To The Holy Family prayer cards before every mass on Dec. 30 conjunction with the Feast of the Holy Family. This prayer will be read during each mass. Overview Families today face many struggles, both through cultural pressure and through the personal struggles that accompany family life. Despite these struggles and partly as a result of conquering them families have great capacity for love and joy, a joy that is strengthened through the peace and truth found in Christ. To assist families in living out this joy of Christ, Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William Lori has composed a prayer through which families may come together to consecrate themselves under the protection of the Holy Family. We invite every family of our parish to engage in the Consecration to the Holy Family. How to Prepare The word consecration literally means association with the sacred, and as such it requires a much larger commitment than simply reciting a prayer off of a card. To receive the full benefit of intercession from the Holy Family, one must cleanse the body, mind and soul. The decision to consecrate your family needs to be intentional and a process through which you completely surrender to God through the Holy Family. You are accepting the truth that salvation history was changed forever by a family, and that through your domestic church, you are called to live their example. Four suggested steps before praying the Consecration to the Holy Family 1. Discuss the importance of this consecration as a family and why you are doing it 2. Each member of your family is strongly encouraged to receive the sacrament of reconciliation 3. As a family, intentionally choose something to fast from. The fast can be for at least a week. As our physical bodies are drawn to things of the world, it is strongly encouraged that you fast from something that you would normally do or consume. Fasting helps to discipline our minds and hearts to refrain from secular activities and be more focused on God 4. Prepare for the commitment you are making. Consecration to the Holy Family is not a single event. You have chosen a way of life for your family. You and your family are consciously choosing to be a beacon of light of God s love through his Church. Council 1647 in Lake Geneva is one of 17,000 Knights of Columbus councils that make up the world s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in 1882 to assist working-class and immigrant Catholics in the United States, today the approximately two million members of the Knights put their faith into action through a broad range of charitable causes locally, nationally and internationally through financial contributions and hands-on service. If you would like to become a member of the Knights of Columbus, please contact Bob McCormick at logmack93@hotmail.com or via phone at 630-287- 0176. NEW APPROACH TO OUR BOOK STUDY GROUPS Instead of reading an individual book for our next study we will be reading the Gospel for the upcoming Sunday Mass each week, using a study format called Lectio Divina. Many are probably familiar with this format. You read the Gospel 4 times, each time focusing on a different approach, then we will discuss what struck us in the passage and have some other study questions to enrich our discussions. We will be using a book called Lectio Divina of the Gospels for the liturgical year 2018-19 put out by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops USCCB. You do NOT need a book unless you want one, the facilitators will have all the suggested meditations and questions, but you are welcome to get one through the USCCB website. They are $15.95 and right now they have a Buy One Get One ½ off but not sure how long that will be. That price would be $23.95 (plus S&H) for 2. You also do not need to attend every week but of course we d love to see you there as often as possible. You will be amazed how the Gospel will come alive for you each week when you do this study and the insights you will gain into the messages in each Gospel. We will continue to offer classes on Monday nights from 7-8 or 8:30 and Thursday mornings from 10-11 or 11:30. Monday classes will start Jan. 14 and go through April 8 and the Thursday classes will start Jan. 17 and go through April 11 th. We will end the classes the week before Easter so we will all have time to prepare for that most Holy Week. For more information and to register please contact Maureen Redmer @262-249-0424 or memauly@hotmail.com or Geri Braun @262-249-9590 or janie3@charter.net

ADVENT RECONCILIATION SERVICE Advent is a wonderful time to celebrate the reconciling love and the healing graces our Lord offers us. All are welcome to the Advent Reconciliation Service at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16 which will be followed by individual confessions. ROSARY The Immaculate alone has from God the promise of victory over Satan. She seeks souls that will consecrate themselves entirely to her, that will become in her hands forceful instruments for the defeat of Satan and the spread of God s Kingdom. - St. Maximiliam Kolbe Prepare for the arrival of the holy infant...give your heart as a gift, to the little one, who Is the Savior of the World! Please join us in praying the holy rosary at 5:30 pm, each Tuesday evening during Adoration. CHRISTMAS MEMORIALS As we end a month of remembering those who have gone before us in faith, another opportunity to remember our loved ones appears. During the seasons of Advent and Christmas, many of us are reminded of those who are no longer with us. If you would like to remember a loved one this Christmas Season, please consider offering a Memorial in their honor. Your donation will go toward the cost of our seasonal church decorations. If you would like to remember your loved ones, please complete the form below and return it to the parish office, along with your donation, no later than Friday, Dec. 21. THANK YOU!! The names of those remembered will be published in a special bulletin in the beginning of January. Yes, I wish to make a Christmas Memorial Donation in memory of: Donation offered by:
