KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 1013 THE VOCAL KNIGHT GRAND KNIGHTS MESSAGE NOVEMBER 7, 2010 We are already half-way through the fall season. The sun shines on a cool, crisp morning as I write this. It is in these days of dramatic shadows and strong breezes that I think about the blessings that I am most grateful for. I think of my wife and grown children, my daughters and their families and my sons who are in college. I think of the difficult year it has been for my mother and father, who have struggled with my father s Alzheimer s and with moving from their home into a senior cottage but I am grateful for how this situation has brought even more closeness with my siblings as we now care for the two who cared for us so long ago. I am especially grateful for my sister s Denise and Marlene who have lead that effort of care and support. I am also very grateful to serve as your Grand Knight. Council 1013 is now 105 years old. We have a long tradition of serving and caring for this community. For many years, we were the only council in town. As other councils began to form, we were the largest. As of this writing, I believe that Holy Spirit s council is now the largest. We have 235 members, but only 30 to 40 of them are active. We have as many members who live in other communities around the state and around the country. We average 13 attendees at our monthly meetings. Earlier in the year, it was decided by the membership in attendance that we concentrate on the things that we already do well and not attempt to try anything new. I hope that more of you will attend our meetings and help promote council activities in the future. Our next meeting is Monday, November 8th at 7:00pm in the O Day Room. I hope to see more of you there. Vivat Jesus, Mark Zangs, Grand Knight of Council 1013 2010 2011 Council Officers Chaplain: Fr.
