Volume 8 Issue 2 February 2017 FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Special points of interest: Church Community News - pg. 3 Church Calendar Inside this issue: Ladies Night Dinner Pg. 2 Prayer Requests Pg. 4 SAVE THE DATE! Flea Market Saturday, April 29 We need a lot of help, especially early in the morning, setting up, and through the day. Sign-up sheets will be available In March. Editor: Carol Ann Bregman office@1stpresrahway.org From Pastor Erin... O n Thursday, January 26, a group of about 20 people ate around tables and talked about the future of our church. We gathered all the hopes and dream expressed throughout our discernment journey in the fall. People created goals about spiritual formation/education, outreach/mission, membership/evangelism, and fellowship/congregational life. The energy in the room was contagious as we put down on paper who we believe God is asking us to be in the upcoming year. Here are some of the goals we identified: Spiritual formation/education Include adult educational programming with 4 week mini session for an engaging book or activity) Enliven youth programming send kids to Johnsonburg, get all kids together once a month for fun and a worship Full weekend retreat for the entire church Reinvent Sunday School with a new curriculum that is interactive, uses technology, integrates art, science and music Congregational life/fellowship Have an open house for the community like a history night, bake sale, jazz ensemble, arts and crafts for kids, or a soccer clinic Host a progressive dinner Visit members with baked goods Mission/outreach Build a stronger relationship with Food for friends-possibly find space for the food pantry here Evangelism/membership Share flyers/info about our church to the new apartment buildings Call friends and those who haven t been to church in a while to check in on them Community service projects- one day Host dinners for people who are interested in becoming new members So my question for you is how can you help us accomplish these goals over the next year? Could you make something? Could you volunteer your time? Could you spread the word about our church? We can t be a community without you! God has you here to build up our community. Let me know how you can help us and we will do it all together!

Ryder is very excited to be a big brother too, although a little apprehensive to share his toys, but he's looking forward to teaching Hagen all about Mickey Mouse and match box cars. 8-Ilanda K. 9-Nicholas T. 12-Alexander L. 10-Scott R. 11-Kaitlyn L. 18-Linda G. 20-Andrew John R. 23-Hillary M. 28-Nathan Alexander H.
