I love this time of the year. It's when I can take off all the layers of clothing I've had on for the last couple of months and bask in the sunshine of Colorado. Huey Geller, SAL Commander CHAPLAIN Pentecost Sunday May 20th was Pentecost, a Jewish festival, also known as the "Feast of weeks", or "Day of first fruits". The Jewish festival is a celebration of the first buds, of the new harvest, to come. Jewish Men were required by law to go to Jerusalem three times a year; to celebrate the major feasts. Passover (spring), seven weeks and a day later, comes Pentecost, and in the fall harvest; Tabernacles. Christians celebrate Pentecost because, the twelve apostles received the in filling of the Holy Spirit, on this holiday; just as Jesus had promised.
