The Jewish festival is a celebration of the first buds, of the new harvest, to come. Jewish Men were required by law to go to Jerusalem three times a year; to celebrate the major feasts. Passover (spring), seven weeks and a day later, comes Pentecost, and in the fall harvest; Tabernacles. Christians celebrate Pentecost because, the twelve apostles received the in filling of the Holy Spirit, on this holiday; just as Jesus had promised.
