GOD IS WITH US The book of Wisdom tells us that the spirit of God is in all things. What a wonderful thought, and what a wonderful image to keep in front of us as we travel down life's road. For if the path is revealed in the treading, it's good to know that God is with us--and all around us--every step of the way. But Paul knows that this divine presence is not timid. Instead, God calls out to us, and Paul prays that we, along with the Thessalonians, might be made worthy of that call. And who knows more about God's call than Zacchaeus, the tax collector? Jesus called him out of a tree, for goodness' sake. Or perhaps more correctly, as we reflect upon the end of today's Gospel reading, for heaven's sake. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co. St. Rose of Lima Ladies Society Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) Our ladies represent the Catholic faith in their private and public lives and by supporting different causes. However, we belong to a Catholic Church, a universal church, a world wide church. As such we belong to the National Council of Catholic Women founded at the request of the Bishops of the United States in 1920. From time to time they ask us to support different programs sponsored by the U.S. Catholic Church and the world wide Church. In response, we sponsor programs for immigrants in need, clothes for farm workers, lepers in South America, pro-life programs here in Milton and Pensacola, such as 40 Days for Life, the Pregnancy Resource Center, Alpha Center and more.
