For more information, please call Laura Powers at 781-396-0423 Ext 113. Thank you. Dear Friends, In today's Gospel, the Lord compares the growth we see in nature at this time of year with the growth of God's grace in our souls. "It is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and would sleep and rise night and day and through it all the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how." As St Paul says, "God gives the growth." His grace increases in our lives - "we know not how" - as long as we make room for that grace - clearing the "soil" of our souls of any weeds (sins, bad habits) that would impede its growth. May the kingdom of God grow in our lives like the mustard seed - small at its beginning, but destined to gradually become great and fruitful. Happy Father's Day to all the fathers of our parish. May God bless our fathers, both living and deceased, for their care, protection, and love. Father Paul Please remember the following people who are in need of prayers: Theresa O Brien Carew, Sr. Waltrude Dennis CSJ, Pasqualina DeSimone, Jack Foley, Jeffrey Morgan, Torbert Prior, Joel Rivera, Donald & Ronald Sisson, Rob Stengel, Donna Trabucco, Bob Tringali, Pauline Vojtas & Denise Zero Weekly Scripture Readings 17 SUN Ez 17:22-24/2 Cor 5:6-10/Mk 4:26-34 18 Mon 1 Kgs 21:1-16/Mt 5:38-42 19 Tue 1 Kgs 21:17-29/Mt 5:43-48 20 Wed 2 Kgs 2:1, 6-14/Mt 6:1-6, 16-18 21 Thu Sir 48:1-14/Mt 6:7-15 22 Fri 2 Kgs 11:1-4, 9-18/Mt 6:19-23 23 Sat 2 Chr 24:17-25/Mt 6:24-34 24 SUN Vigil: Jer 1:4-10/1 Pt 1:8-12/Lk 1:5-17 Day: Is 49:1-6/Acts 13:22-26/Lk 1:57-66, 80 Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Page 4 From Fr. John To the Medford Catholic Collaborative: I would like to express my deep gratitude for all your kind words and wishes as you bade me farewell on my move to St. Anselm s in Sudbury. Your generosity of spirit was typical of what I experienced from you for four years. Thank you very much. This marks a new beginning for me and for you. You have a new parochial vicar with special gifts and talents that he is anxious to share with you. You have the opportunity to renew your own commitment to ensuring that your parish thrives. A pastor once told me that if any parish is to thrive it needs its parishioners Brains, Bucks and Brawn. Please be generous with all three B s, that your parish may live for many years to come. I am grateful for the Collaborative staff, a group of very dedicated and competent people who care deeply about being of service to you. They have been so kind to me and I am glad to call them friends. The last is not the least. I owe a special debt of gratitude to your pastor Fr. Paul Sullivan. I have received much kindness from him. And, he assumed great responsibility in accepting to be Pastor. Sometimes that responsibility can feel very heavy (he wouldn t say so, so I am!) and he is meeting that responsibility with grace. Pray for him and help him out. To me he has been more than a friend. He has been a brother. If you are ever near Sudbury please feel welcome to visit. I know a great ice cream place there. Love, Fr. John Swencki St Anselm Church 100 Landham Rd Sudbury, MA 01776 We encourage all parishioners to enroll in the online giving program at our parishes. It's a safe, convenient and cost effective way to make your donations! This program can easily be accessed through our website www.medfordcollaborative.org under the Online Giving tab. You are also welcome to call 781-396-0423 or stop by our Parish Office at 114 High Street any time that s convenient for you for help enrolling in Online Giving at St. Francis of Assisi or St. Joseph. Reasons to sign up for On-line Giving: No need to write checks or bring cash to church. Peace-of-mind knowing that the church is receiving your contribution, even if you are unable to attend. More secure than checks by providing a 128-bit encrypted secure browser connection and secure storage protected by strong firewalls and other defense systems. All contributions are recorded for you on your bank statement with date of settlement. No need to use the envelope system, thereby creating cost savings for the parishes. IT COSTS YOU NOTHING! "As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God s varied grace." - 1 Peter 4:10 Loved Ones In Service Presently on active duty serving our country: LCPL Gerald Byrnes, US Marine Corps.
