July 2016 Basilica de San Albino Council # 15578 San Albino Knight Grand Knight s Message Jimmy Beasley I am truly thankful for the blessings of the past year our council has received. I am also humbled to have been re-elected as your Grand Knight for the new Fraternal Year. I am looking forward to working with the membership, new Council Officers and Program Directors in continuing the charitable works of the Order and expanding our efforts within the Church and community. With the new members and their families who have joined our ranks this past year, and our ongoing efforts in recruiting new members, I know we will have another wonderful and blessed year. The new Fraternal Year will also bring some challenges for our council. Fr. Richard Catanach has been re-assigned to Holy Cross starting July 1. In the interim, Deacon Franciso Gurrola will be the Parish Administrator for the Basilica of San Albino. Our newly assigned pastor, Fr. Christopher Williams will be completing his Cannon Law studies and will arrive at the parish in just over a year. I expect our role in supporting Deacon Gurrola will give us plenty of opportunities to step up and take on more responsibilities in assisting the parish. Let us all do what we can to make this transition an easy one. Also, let s remember keep Fr. Richard, Deacon Gurrola, and Fr. Christopher in our prayers. I wish to thank Fr. Richard for all he has done for me, my family, and our council during his time as pastor of the Basilica of San Albino. It is because of Fr. Richard that I finally joined the Knights of Columbus. As a result of his request in 2012 to start a Knights of Columbus council in the parish, Council 15578 was formed. We are now serving our Lord through our service to others, just as Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney envisioned. Let us carry this thought into the next year. Viva Cristo Rey! Give it some thought The Knights of Columbus Basilica de San Albino Council 15578 Chartered in August 2012. These men are committed to charity, service to community, and Catholic discipleship. We provide assistance to our parish, the poor, our youth and the elderly. This is done through our monthly parish food drives, volunteer working projects, fund raisers, and more. The Council promotes faith, family, and a culture of life, to name just a few. Please consider joining us in our service to others. The Knights of Columbus Basilica de San Albino Council 15578 is sponsoring a fund-raiser to support a trip to Steubenville West Catholic Youth Conference (July 15-17 in Tucson) for some of our parish teenagers. A drawing will be held for a statue from the Basilica Gift Shop. Tickets will be $5.00 each or 5 tickets for $20.00 and sold after all of the masses. Donations may also be given to assist with costs of the trip. All proceeds will be directed to the expenses for this trip. Please contact Virginia Smith at (575) 288-7640. Prayer for the Sick Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we turn to you in this time of illness. O dearest comforter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in your hands.
