RISING STAR #47 NEWMARKET, NEW HAMPSHIRE Location - 84 Main Street, Newmarket Mailing - PO Box 309, Newfields Free and Accepted Masons Newmarket, N. H. September 2013 Chartered 1826 Meeting 2 nd Wednesday April June, September - December
Message from the East Hello Brethren Welcome back brethren. It s been a short summer. Why do they seem to get shorter every year? As we get older the time seems to fly ever faster, and we try to pack more and more into what seems like less and less time. How did our forefathers accomplish so much? Their lifespan was shorter, and they did not have the benefits of our modern conveniences. Great men all, the fellows on the cover of our trestleboard this month. Presidents of our country who were also Masons. Their dedication to our fraternity and to our country is legendary. Well, this dedication does not stop with former presidents. This fall we celebrate the Masonic contributions of Rising Star brethren at our veterans night on the October stated meeting. We count among our number, Grand Masters, District Officers, Past Masters, Community Leaders, Business Men, Family Men, and Great Friends. I was asked, just today, why I became a Mason. These men, our Masonic veterans, are the reason. Associating with the finest men I know has its own reward and keeps me coming back. I know that I have more and more trouble every year, fitting things in. But one thing I will always have time for, will always make time for, is celebrating these friendships and the accomplishments of my brothers. Thank you my friends, my brothers, for everything you have done for our fraternity, and for setting the example for the rest of us to follow. We would not be the men we are, if you had not made the time to set an example by being the men you have been. Its visitation season again. Please check the district calendar on line, for the upcoming visitations and inspections. Our stated meeting in September will start at 7:30 as usual with a short business meeting of ½ hour. We have some important issues to discuss, please come and participate. At 8:00 on our stated, the meeting will be open to family and friends, for a demonstration of the art of fencing by WM Frates from Tucker lodge. Bring your family to this unusual event! Please make time for our veterans program this year. It will be held at the senior center on Beech Street Extension on our stated meeting night. We will have a BBQ at 6:30, and the meeting will start at around 7:30 or a bit before. We have a wonderful musician, Mr Colin White, who will entertain our guests. We will have our special ladies, and our Masonic veterans present and awards will be given out. We expect the GM to attend as well. The statewide open house this year is on Saturday October 19. We need volunteers to man the lodge and greet visitors. Can you spare an hour? Please let the WM know if you can receive your TB by email. jpmasterson@comcast.net Calendar of Events Fall 2012 Calendar 08/25 Officer cookout, home of WM Masterson 12-3ish 08/29 St James visitation 6-9 09/11 Rising Star return to labor, stated meeting 09/14 Outdoor degree, 10:00, home of WM Steve Welch 09/26 Masters and Wardens, Hampton, 6:30-9:30 09/30 Moses Paul visitation 10/04 1 st District LOI, Portsmouth, 6:30-9:30 10/09 Rising Star Veterans Program 6:30 dinner 7:30 meet 10/15 Rising Star DDGL inspection 2 nd degree 10/19 Statewide open house 11/26 Rising Star visitation by the DDGM
