ALL parishioners are invited and encouraged to join Catholic, Inspirational Speaker and Author Greg Wasinski, for a three night parish mission, Unconditionally on Sunday, March 4 th at 6:00 pm and Monday, March 5 th and Tuesday, March 6 th at 7:00 pm. Each night we will journey together, making faith attainable, focusing on our relationship with God and rediscovering the beauty of our Catholic faith. Our time together will end with exposition and a deeply moving, guided Eucharistic Adoration. Please join us for these three nights as a time for renewal and refocusing our hearts to Christ during this Lenten season. More information about Greg and the ministry can be found at www.faithandreallife.com SPOT LIGHT: This weekend our spotlight is the Music Ministry. They will be in the Gathering Area after all the masses this weekend with information on their ministry along with order forms for their cookie fundraiser. Sympathy to the family of Barbara Elek who was buried this past week. May she rest in the peace of Christ.

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Pastor s Corner: A comma or a period. How do you live life? After Gracie Allen s death, her grieving husband, George Burns, found among her papers this quote: Never place a period where God has placed a comma. We may say we view our lives as a comma in that it is always unfolding, but do we live as such? Have we got stuck in a rut? Are we carrying baggage around that is preventing us from moving forward? As the Season of Lent approaches l encourage you to look at the areas of your life where you are not growing and make your Lenten resolution one of hearing God calling you to new life. Turn away from sin we will hear on Ash Wednesday. What is it we need to turn away from that is putting a period in our lives? These contain a Scripture passage and reflection for each day of Lent. Operation Rice Bowl: As part of our faith community s Lenten observance, we will participate in Catholic Relief Services Lenten program, Operation Rice Bowl. Our Lady Queen of Peace Page 4 Thank you for your generous support of our Parish, and your help with the needs of the community through your ongoing participation in our various ministries. Actual Goal Difference Sunday, Jan 28: $ 7,576.50 $ 9,000.00 $ 1,423.50) Sunday Y-T-D: $304,208.95 $279,000.00 $25,208.95 EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: The following is taken from Holy Communion and Worship of the Eucharist Outside Mass #80. When the faithful adore Christ present in the sacrament, they should remember that this presence derives from the sacrifice and has as its purpose both sacramental and spiritual communion. Therefore, the devotion prompting the faithful to visit the blessed sacrament draws them into an even deeper share in the paschal mystery and leads them to respond gratefully to the gift of him who through his humanity constantly pours divine life into members of his Body. Abiding with Christ the Lord, they enjoy his intimate friendship and pour out their hearts before him for themselves and for those dear to them and they pray for the peace and salvation of the world. CHATHOLIC CHARITIES: The 2018 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal will take place next weekend in our parish. Please refer to the insert in this week s bulletin which includes our parish s goal and an overview of the importance of Catholic Charities in our communities. This year s appeal theme is Your Mercy: Transforming Lives and Communities. Your generous support will transform the lives of others, to offer dignity, possibilities and companionship to those who are most vulnerable. As in the past, an in-pew commitment process will take place next weekend, February 10-11. All who have not received the mailing from Bishop Perez, or have not had a chance to respond to it, will be asked to consider making a generous pledge to support the ministries and services provided by Catholic Charities. If you have received the mailing, please respond generously to it and we ask you to also complete the in-pew envelope and indicate by checking the box that you have responded by mail We invite you to view the stories of inspiration and more information at: www.catholiccommunity.org/2018appeal AN EVENING OF CONFESSION: Wednesday, February 28, 2018 our parish and all of the parishes in the Diocese will offer An Evening of Confession from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Parishioners are asked to evangelize by inviting family or friends who are away from the Church to join in this special Lenten practice. Priests at all parishes will be present for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. As Pope Francis says, The joy of God is the joy of forgiveness. More information is available at www.welcomecatholics.com. FAMILY PROMISE: Our next hosting week will be starting February 18 th. We will have signup sheets available in the Gathering Area on the weekend of February 10 th & 11 th. LATIN AMERICA: Thank you for your generous support last week of the Collection for the Church in Latin America. As a parish we collected XXX, which will be used to share the faith with our brothers and sisters in Latin America and the Caribbean so that they in turn can share it with others. If you missed the collection, it s not too late to give! Just visit: www.usccb.org/nationalcollections and click How to Give on the left. Your gift will certainly make a difference! MAKING THE MASS MORE MEANINGFUL: Join in learning more about the Mass on Sunday, March 11 th from 9:30 10:50am in the parish hall. This intergenerational learning experience will help us to gain valuable insights into the Mass which will make it more meaningful.
