Pastor s Page? We enter the sanctuary today on the heels of a great time of blessing last week.. It was stressful, with some disappointments, some sickness, some emergencies, and some plans that didn t quite turn out the way we wanted. But, praise the Lord, we saw a successful end to the Men s Season for this year, and the third Sunday of our month-long celebration of Women. It was good to see the return of Mother Bordies and Sister Sara Banks, as they continue under medical treatment. It was good to see guests and visitors during the Men s Friday Night Party and during the Men s Day Services on Sunday. Thanks to our former Pastor, Reverend Theodore Nichols, for his return to the pulpit, giving us a thought-provoking ad challenging message. Today, we close out the month with another time of thanksgiving and praise for all women especially the women of Bethel. This Day In Church History... March 31, A.D. 33. This is the day Bible scholars have determined was the day recorded in the book of Mark, chapter 11, verses 12 14. Jesus and His disciples had left Bethany, where they had spent the night, and were on their way to Jerusalem for worship at the Temple. Jesus saw a fig tree in the distance that looked good, but when he approached It, He saw that it had no fruit on it. Jesus, then cursed the tree. We might think Jesus was having a temper tantrum but scholars tell us He was teaching us a very important lesson. They say several passages in The Old Testament compare Israel to a fig tree. To Jesus, the fig tree looked beautiful from a distance, but a closer look showed that it had no figs. It was barren. Jesus observed that the Jewish Temple at Jerusalem looked beautiful from a distance, but the sin of the Temple leaders made it unfruitful. Look at how the Temple leaders treated Jesus in the last days of His life. Read on in Mark, chapter 11, verses 15 17 for a better understanding. Did You Know...? Genesis 24:11 states, It was toward evening, the time women went out to draw water. This was one of the many tasks of women in Bible times drawing and carrying heavy jars of water from a town well to her home every day. The men usually did not help.
