Saint Margaret of Scotland Parish St. Mary Star of the Sea Mission THE SHEPHERD S CORNER THE HEALING POWER OF THE OCEAN. As I write this today, I am a few days into my annual vacation at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire. This has always been a special place to me and my family. We have all been vacationing here for more than 40 years, the same cottages, the same week, since I was a child. Different people vacation in different ways. Some people need a vacation after their vacation because they use that time to go-go-go, and see-see-see. For me, vacation is a time to recharge and renew, to slow down and relax. Being by the ocean is the most renewing thing I can think of. Ironically, I m often up earlier in the morning than I am during the rest of the year. The sound of the waves, the sunrise on the water, the quiet of the beach at dawn are all so engaging, and as prayerful a place as our church on a summer s morn. I love sitting on the deck of the cottage and watch the sun come up with a nice cup of coffee, praying my morning prayer, praying for all of you as your shepherd. There will be one or two people dotting the landscape, walking their dogs, or even taking a sunrise dip in the cold ocean. There is something powerful in the salt air that makes it feel as though you are breathing oxygen for the first time. PARISH MEN'S GROUP FATHER S CLUB Deacon Thomas Hanlon, parishioner, retired businessman, Captain in USMC, and former prison minister, will moderate a Men's Group, every Tuesday morning at 10:30 am beginning on July 10.
