Church Renovation Update Excellent progress is being made on the church renovation! The contracted professionals involved with repairing the infamous crack between the original church and the 1957 addition has begun with removal of all material that is associated with that area. It promises to look great based on the engineering efforts to address this unsettling problem! Other areas within the church from front to back that have any signs of cracks, bulging plaster or water damage, are being meticulously addressed to beautify the church. Repairs to the walls and ceiling in the choir loft will also proceed. Remember, in preparation for this year s renovation, the roof was repaired, new ice stops installed (where needed) and new gutters replaced the original damaged gutters. This strategic remedy, begun a few years ago, was in preparation for this renovation. No further water damage has occurred since that time. If you wish to see some of the work being accomplished, go to www.stmarys-denville.org and click on the Church Renovation Updates area to review pictures of the interior as we make progress. We know you are curious, but for your safety, please do not attempt to enter the church at any time, entry places you in jeopardy, as well as construction workers that are repairing, plastering and painting. The main doors to the school auditorium are open if you wish to visit the sacrament during the day. An area in front of the auditorium has been set up for various drop-offs, such as Food Drive and Beta Club projects. Look for Update III next week! RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is meant for those who: - have never been baptized but are curious about Christ and all He taught; - have been baptized in other Christian traditions, but have an interest in Catholics and the Catholic Church; - are already baptized Catholic but have never received Eucharist and/or Confirmation. These are the people the Rite of Christian Initiation seeks to reach and to serve. We are accepting enrollment for the 2017-18 session. The session starts in the Fall and candidates receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil in March. Perhaps you know someone who may have questions about the faith, the process of RCIA, or a desire to be received into the Church. Think about it, pray about it, and offer an invitation. Anyone interested is asked to contact Andrea Henry, RCIA Coordinator at aphenryrcia@gmail.com or call 973-714-6844. Bereavement Seasons of Hope will begin again late- August 2017. Because summer is a time when most people want freedom from schedules, during summer months we do not schedule any new programs. As the group comes together we will determine the exact starting date based on participants schedules. Our Seasons Program runs for 8 consecutive Wednesday evenings ending with a service of remembrance. ONGOING SUPPORT: Seasons The Journey meets every 2 nd Thursday of the month in the Narthex of the Church. The Journey is open to anyone who has attended any of our 8-week Seasons Programs. Registration forms are available in the Bereavement Literature Rack in the Narthex. During the month of July there is no Journey Meeting. We are planning our Annual Picnic which is scheduled for 5:30 on the 2 nd Thursday in August on the parish grounds. For more information please call or text Peg Feyl at 973-886-4001 or email pfeyl@yahoo.com Save the Date - Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception The Diocese of Paterson will be hosting the 2017 Pilgrimage on October 21, 2017 to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. The trip will provide the faithful the opportunity to join parishioners throughout the diocese in a prayer filled day that includes Mass, Confession, Rosary, Divine Mercy, and Catechetical presentations. More detail will follow. For further information contact the rectory or parish coordinator Barbara Jones at 973-627-6866.
