The Emmaus News Columbus Indiana Area Emmaus Community, Inc. October 2016 volume 24 issue 10 A Note from the Community Lay Director, Columbus Area Emmaus & Chrysalis Community, Praises to our Chrysalis Community for successful flights. Greg and Beth Johnson, as well as the rest of their team, did a outstanding job making these flights all they could be for the caterpillars. Fly with Christ! Remember to keep the young people lifted up in prayer as they begin their Next Steps in the Chrysalis Community. One of the hardest phone calls I have had to make as a Lay Director is to let a Walk Lay Director know we are retiring their walk. Tom Bailey on behalf of the Emmaus board and the Community we want to say thank you for your prayers, time and energy used to prepare a team. Please continue to keep Tom and His team and the Pilgrims that did register for this walk in your prayers. Karen Sutton is putting the finial touches on her team. They met last week to train and preview talks. Pray for the Women and Men of Walk 102. Lord, I pray that they will be made empty vessels that you will use for your purposes during this walk. On a personal side note, I want to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes for my back surgery last week. I have many weeks of healing ahead of me, but I had such a sense of peace from all the prayers I knew were being said. Community if you still have a Women's app to get turned in make sure you do it very soon. We want to make sure every possible pilgrim is given the chance to attend, Any questions please contact Cindy Massey Registrar (cmassey@columbusareaemmaus.community ) Blessings to you all, Mary Miles Emmaus Community Lay Director

If you have never made agape but would like to, please use your imagination and create a gift of love. 90-100 pieces usually covers both pilgrims and team and if you need some inspiration there are lot's of great ideas on Pinterest, just search for "Emmaus". MOVING FORWARD FOURTH DAY MEETING OCTOBER 28th It is always difficult to retire a walk we question ourselves, what more could we have done to make sure the Men s Walk was not retired? Why did the Women s Walk have so few Pilgrims signed up for their Walk? Is it the timing of the Walks? Or is it that we as a community have forgotten the key elements of our walks maturing in our faith and being the disciples God has called us to be. Have you ever thought why the Emmaus Community encourages men and women to get involved in Reunion Groups? God wired us so that when you help other people grow, God helps you grow. You never grow faster than when you re in fellowship with other believers and encouraging each other s commitment to follow Jesus Christ. Each of us walked away from our weekend walk experience with many things to think and pray about. You were encouraged to pray constantly on how God will use you to bring others to know the love of Christ. A life steeped in prayer is exciting and filled with change. It is not a life of trivial pursuits, but a life filled with opportunities. To experience God s anointing for the work He has called us to, we need accountability to a group of Christians; wise counselors to help us discern which ideas are nudges from God and how they should be acted upon. This is why Reunion Groups are so integral in this process of maturing in our walk with Christ. Sponsors, I want to encourage you to get your Pilgrim involved in a Reunion Group. If not a Reunion Group, consider a small group at their/your church that will cause them to grow in their relationship with Christ. Without accountability, if will be difficult to grow in our faith. It is through this growth, that their faith and trust will grow. Then we will become the disciples that God has called all of us to be. As Sponsors, you can help start this process by making sure you bring your Pilgrim to the Fourth Day meeting which will be held on the Friday following the Women s Walk October 28 th starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Columbus Community Church the same church where the Candlelight is held. We will look forward to seeing you and your Pilgrim at the Fourth Day Meeting. Phil Newton
