We gather to share our witness to God s goodness. All: Lord, open our hears and let us share your Good News. Lord, let our lives bear witness through service to your people. One: We gather to praise God whose love is eternal. We gather to be formed in the image of your Son, the Christ. All: Lord, open our hearts today to sing your praises. Lord, let our spirits be molded in the Light of Christ s mercy, grace, and justice. One: In our richness, we have believed that we are the ones who have all the answers to life s problems. In our power, we believe that might is right. All: But when those who have little offer what they have; we are put to shame. When those who are powerless offer love and mercy; we are humbled in our shame. One: Joy fills our lives, when we center our lives on Jesus Christ. Comfort fills our All: spirits when we believe in the Lord. Hope fills our hearts when we focus on our Savior. Give thanks to God by proclaiming God s goodness throughout the world. Amen! *Opening Hymn 32 I Sing the Mighty Power of God Prayer of Confession One: We confess to you, Lord, what we are; we are not the people we like others to think we are; we are afraid to admit even to ourselves what lies in the depths of our souls. But we do not want to hide or true selves from you. We believe that you know us as we are, and yet you still love us. 2
All: Help us not to shrink from self-knowledge; teach us to respect ourselves for your sake; give us the courage to put our trust in your guiding power. Raise us out of guilt and fear. Take us into the freedom and energy of a forgiven people. And for those who through long habit find forgiveness hard to accept, we ask that you would break their bondage and set them free by your grace. Amen. Declaration of Forgiveness One: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you in the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. May the God of mercy who forgives us all our sins strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. All: Thanks be to God for we are indeed forgiven in Christ, who is Jesus. Amen! The Peace One: May the Peace of Christ be with you. All: And also with you. Let us pass the Peace to one another. *Congregational Response 579 Glory Be to the Father CCLI License # 1049021 3
