Our first Healing Service last Sunday at St Augustine was well received and very moving. It was good to see so many parishioners taking part, from both St Augustine and St Mary, plus new faces, and all ages. To give you an idea of the age range, I anointed the youngest person ever in my priestly career. While we gathered in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament on the altar, prayers were offered for our brokenness, for emotional, relationship, mental healing, and other types of healing, interspersed with meditative music provided by Rene and Mimi Abadesco. At the same time, individuals were coming for personal prayer for their particular healing needs. We concluded with Anointing of the Sick - almost everyone in attendance came forward - and then the Blessed Sacrament was carried throughout the church to bring the healing presence of Jesus near to all. Thank you to the St Augustine Healing Ministry for organizing the service, thank you to all who took part. Look for our next Healing Service in autumn. Father Paul Pluth A RCHBISHOP R AYMOND HUNTHAUSEN 21 AUGUST 1921 22 JULY 2018 R EST IN PEACE Archbishop Raymond Dutch Hunthausen, who led the Archdiocese of Seattle from 1975 to 1991, died at his home in Helena, Montana last Sunday evening. He was 96. He came into the national spotlight for his protests against the presence of the Trident nuclear submarine in Bangor, Washington. As with any man or woman, Archbishop Hunthausen had those who revered him and those who denounced him. Let us offer prayers for the repose of the soul of our fellow sinner.
