November 6, 2016 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through his grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and word. -- 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 There are two important lessons here. First, we are called to be generous with our encouragement and hope. As God shows us mercy, we must be merciful to others. Second, joy is contagious! The joy we receive from doing good works not only strengthens us, it encourages others as well. A SMILE: IT NEEDS SO LITTLE SYMPATHY TO CHEER A WEARY WAY. SOMETIMES A LITTLE KINDNESS LIGHTS UP A DREARY DAY; A VERY SIMPLE, FRIENDLY WORD MAY HOPE AND STRENGTH IMPART, OR JUST AN UNDERSTANDING SMILE REVIVE SOME FAINTING HEART; AND LIKE A SUDDEN SUNLIT RAY. LIGHTNING A DARKENED ROOM. A SUNNY SPIRIT MAY BEGUILE THE DEEPEST DEPTHS OF GLOOM. (Have you ever thought how a smile could bring a touch of hope and enlightenment to a fainting heart? - God can use our smiles miraculously). Collection for Destruction by Hurricane Matthew As we continue to recover and assist people in our own Diocese from the destruction caused by Hurricane Matthew, we are mindful of the people of Haiti and areas of our country which were devastated by this hurricane. To assist in these efforts, the USCCB has asked that each diocese take up a collection. In the Diocese of Savannah, we will take up the collection on the weekend of November 12-13. Since we will not have special envelopes for this collection, the baskets will be passed VOTE NOVEMBER 8, 2016 We would like to welcome any new Parishioner and encourage you to register with the Parish. Registration Forms are located in the church on the stand in front of the Confessional, or you may stop by the Parish Office and register Monday- 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.
