I look forward to working with them as a new term of office takes place for the next two years. We will all be working together to further our accomplishments for our council. It has been most rewarding for me as your Grand Knight and now as treasurer. I will try to do my best to serve you. I was most blessed to be GK at our 100 year celebration on March 22nd 2013. That really meant a lot to me and to all of you too. ANNUAL RELIGIOUS APPRECIATION DINNER Jim Knights Bogner, of GK Columbus Councils 1728 (St. James) and 10923 (Prince of Peace) will hold the annual Memorial Mass for our deceased Knights in conjunction with the Religious Appreciation Dinner on Monday, Feb. 22 at the K of C Hall. Mass at the hall will start at 6:00 pm. A two meat meal with all the fixings, catered by Country Catering, will follow the Mass. The cost of the meal is $15.00 per person. Widows of our deceased members, and the religious community, will eat for free. Please make your reservations as soon as possible to give the caterer a number of attendees, by calling Cliff Jarecke at 308-237-1696 or 308-293-0795. Please come out to honor our deceased members, and to show our appreciation for our religious community. Thank you for attending!

Grand Knight Message About 40 people gathered at the Perkins restaurant Feb. 9th for Fr. Rooney's going away party. Thank you to Fr. Rooney's friends who were able to attend and for those of you who couldn't attend. Thank you for your prayers and wishes of good will. A good time was had by all and everybody enjoyed supper together. As most of you know, Fr. Rooney did move to Lincoln, on Friday Feb.12th, to be near his sister, niece and remaining family. He will reside at Madonna. Fr. Bob will miss all of his friends here and he will be missed by all of us. Fr. Bob's new address is: Fr. Grand Knight Clifford Jarecke District deputy Report Thank you to the Kearney initiation team who did the initiation, formation and knight degrees on Jan 24 in Holdrege. 5 men for initiation and 9 men took the formation and knight degrees. As most of you know that is 1st, 2nd, & 3rd degree. Please ASK another Catholic man to join the Knights! The free throw championships will be Feb 7 for district at KCHS 12 noon and we can use 10 knights to help, call me if you can help 708-0514, the regional is in Hastings on March 13 in Hastings, State is April 2 also in Hastings. One Rose is over and again I thank our pastors and Knights for promoting this major fund raiser to reverse the abortion culture of death. I am very aware that the political conversation is not about the life of the unborn, and I ask you to search for the "life" candidates and support them. Knight of the Month Paul Stec Paul joined the Knights in April of 1981. He is a tireless worker, an outstanding fundraiser, a genuine self-starter, and the driving force behind the Annual Super Bowl Party. This Super Bowl event has consistently raised significant funds for the Council s projects. Paul also serves as a Homebound Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at St. James. Thank you, Paul, for your faithful service to the Council, Church and to the larger community as a Knight. Feb. Family of the Month Jim & Linda Fischbach Jim joined the Knights in Oct. of 1970. He has served in several offices of the Council, most recently as Council Treasurer. Jim is active with youth projects, especially the Free Throw Contest and the Soccer Challenge which he helped launch in 2011. Each year, through Russell s Appliance and Electronics, Jim provides the big screen TVs for the Super Bowl Party at the Hall. Linda supports Jim in his many Knights activities, not the least of which is Bingo. Jim serves as Commentator (Leader) and Lector (Proclaimer); both he and Linda serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) at St. James. Thank you Jim and Linda for your faithful service to Council, Church and Community!

Knights of Columbus Hall 1900 Central Avenue 4 th Degree News Knights of Columbus (Please Notice) A vote will be held at our 4 TH Degree meeting on March 10 on a motion for a donation of $500 to St James Catholic Church, and a donation of $500 to Prince of Peace Catholic Church. We ask all 4 TH Degree members to be present, or to voice their opinion to the officers, for consideration on this $1000 donation. Field Agent Message (NEW HAVEN, CT) Chief Insurance Officer Thomas P. Smith, Jr., is pleased to announce that field agent, Michael Scholz has completed his fifth year as a field agent for the Knights of Columbus with the Swanson Agency that serves central and western Nebraska. Michael issued over $15 million of life insurance for 2015. He finished over 130% of his yearly quotas, finished first in Disability Insurance applications for the state of Nebraska and ranked in the top 15% of agents for the Knights of Columbus. Michael currently resides north of Loomis and serves councils in Kearney, Elm Creek, Lexington, Cozad and Broken Bow. He is married to Sara and has two children: Abby (12) and Garrett (9).
