Together Let Us Cause God Joy Today is Christmas. The Responsorial Psalm is Today is born our Savior, Christ the Lord. (Psalm 96:1-2, 2-3,11-12,13) GOOD THOUGHTS ON AGING (Author Unknown) 1. Live healthy with moderate exercise (like walking everyday), eat well and get your sleep. It's easy to get sick and harder to stay healthy. Keep a good relationship with your doctor and stay informed. 2. Enjoy life with those you love and who worry about and care for you. 3. Don't stress over the little things. You've already overcome so much in your life. You have good memories and bad ones, but the important thing is the present. Don't let the past drag you down or the future frighten you. 4. Love your family, your neighbor, your home and your country. We are never old as long as we have intelligence and affection. Share what you have learned with others. 5. Be proud, both inside and out. When you are maintained on the outside, it seeps in, making you feel proud and strong on the inside. 6. Keep your own sense of style and find out what looks good on you and its part of your identity. 7. Read the newspaper, watch the news, and go online and find out what is new and improved. 8. Respect the younger generation and their opinions. They may not be the same as yours, but they are the future and will take the world in their direction. Give advice, not criticism, and try to remind them of yesterday's wisdom that still applies today. 9. Spend your days with positive and cheerful people. 10. Never abandon your hobbies, and always look for new ones. 11. Get out of the house, meet your friends, and try new things. 12. Be a conversationalist. Talk less and listen more. Always find good things to say, and teach something new to others. 13. Always forgive and move on with your life. 14. Live your faith and set an example. Live true to your beliefs and let that memory sway them. 15. Laugh. Laugh a lot. Laugh at everything and, at times, even yourself. Find humor in your situations. 16. Now is the time to be free, at peace and as happy as you can be! Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas, and may next year be your best ever. Our staff, parents and students wish the best for you and yours. God bless us all. Serving Him Together, Barb A. 4 Today s Readings First Reading All the ends of the earth will behold the salvation of our God (Isaiah 52:7-10). Psalm All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God (Psalm 98). Second Reading God has spoken to us through the Son, the very imprint of God s being (Hebrews 1:1-6). Gospel The Word became flesh; from his fullness we have all received grace (John 1:1-18 [1-5, 9-14]). Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared. Miss me but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone. It s all a part of the Master s plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to the Friend we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me but let me go. In Loving Memory of Yolanda Hernandez Bernard Bajorek Alice Trojnar

Do you own or work for a business that would be willing to make a donation to the event? We are in need of both financial support in the form of sponsorships and auction and raffle prizes. Sponsorships will offset the cost of operating the evening, and your business will be prominently featured on all supporting materials and at the event itself. St. Joseph College Seminary is a good fit for men who are interested in college, and at the same time want to discover if God may be calling them to be a Catholic priest. Our seminary building is located on the lakeshore campus of Loyola University Chicago. Seminarians pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a minor in Communication from Loyola as they complete the Program for Priestly Formation. Come and See! The best way to see if St. Joe s is right for you is to come and see it for yourself. Schedule a visit, arrange a campus tour, shadow a seminarian for a day, talk to our vocation director, or just stop by. Taking a look doesn t mean you have to apply, but it can help greatly in making a decision as you respond to the life God may be asking you to discover. www.cometojoseph.com

We need 500 lbs. of plastic caps, tops, and lids to make one Buddy Bench, and they must be sorted to remove any miscellany. Students from the school and Religious Education classes have already helped, and now we are reaching out to you! Please join us FMI, call 708-895-6700. What is a Buddy Bench? It s a place for kids to go when they don t have anyone to play with. For some children, the playground may be the loneliest place in the world. And those with established groups of friends may not think to seek out others who have nobody to play with. But when they see someone sitting alone on the Buddy Bench, it s a signal to the other kids that they should ask that child to join them. Likewise, adult supervisors may find it hard to recognize the lonely kids among the crowd. But when they notice someone sitting on the Buddy Bench, they can steer some activity in their direction.
