I encourage you to attend the services during this time to celebrate this important period in our Church. This year fifteen candidates from the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults will join the Church on Holy Saturday evening. Let us continue our preparation for Easter in our own way. On Holy Thursday, the Thursday of the Lord s Supper, the Triduum begins with the gift of the Eucharist to us by Our Lord. Good Friday brings to us the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made for us. Then on Holy Saturday we welcome new members into the Church as we remember our Lord s Resurrection. This Easter the Mass schedule may present a challenge to some. There will be no 9:00 AM Mass or 5:00 PM Mass on Saturday, April 5. The only service on Holy Saturday will be the Easter Vigil. The Easter Vigil Service will begin at 8:00 PM with the lighting of the Paschal Candle. Unlike past years the Mass schedule will be different. Masses will be held only in the Church on Easter Sunday, April 5 at 6:00 AM, 7:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 5:00 PM. Check the Parish Bulletin for details on the differences in parking and Church capacity information. Plan to arrive early for the Mass you plan to attend, being flexible and open to changing plans at the last minute. On Saturday, April 5 at 9:30 AM there will a Blessing of the Easter Baskets. At 10:00 AM we will hold our Annual Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. Brother Bob Stuifbergen has informed me that two Easter Bunnies will be on hand for the hunt. Bring your kids and camera for a fun time! Also on Saturday, April 5 there will be a call for help preparing the Church for the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday Masses. Keep an eye out on the email broadcasts for details as we draw closer to Saturday, April 5. Next month we begin to look for Council Officers for the Fraternal Year 2015-2016. Brother Armand Gagnon, Past Grand Knight and current Trustee of the Council has graciously accepted my request to be the Point of Contact for those interested in being an officer next year. His article with more details is in this newsletter. My Brothers, I pray that each of you and your families have a blessed and enjoyable Easter. Vivat Jesus! Jim Luhrman

This month I decided to include a form to see how much insurance you should have on yourself and your wife. It is a fairly simple needs analysis, but I think a good one. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to discuss the type of insurance that might be suitable for you. HOW MUCH LIFE INSURANCE DO I NEED? It can be a very simple process to figure out how much life insurance you need to take care of your family in the event of your death. Please complete the following questions for both you and your spouse. 1. How much do I owe on my home? 2. How much do I have in unpaid bills? 3. How much do I want to have for my children s education? 4. How much do I want to leave for final expenses? 5. Is there anything else to leave money behind for? (favorite charity?) 6. How much income per month do I want to leave my family for their expenses? 7. What is a fair and honest rate of return on my investments? A. Simply add up items 1 5 and record total here B. Multiply number 6 times twelve (yearly total) And then divide that number by line 7 Total A and B Subtract the insurance you currently have *This equals the additional life insurance you should have to protect your family based on what YOU want to happen. * **Please note: There could be some variables not included in the above guidelines. Please feel free to include variables if appropriate. Eddie Mazurek PGK-FICF LUTCF 512-301-1218 emazu5@gmail.com

Volume 16 Issue 04 Page 3 Officer Nominations Fraternal Year 2-15-2016 Officer Nominations Council 8156 Fraternal Year 2015-2016 That time of year is coming upon us, where we have to elect new officers, for the upcoming Fraternal Year. If you think you would be interested in filling one of these positions, you can contact me either by telephone or e-mail me, and let me know what position interests you. My telephone number is 512-288-4258 and my e-mail address is agagnon@att.net (all lower case). If you have any questions about any position, I would be glad to give you information about that position, or any other. You may also, wait for election day and be nominated from the floor when that position comes up. Please let me know, so that I can put you on the list for election night. This way, if you cannot make the meeting, your name will automatically be brought up on the ballot. Past Grand Knight - Trustee Armand Gagnon Knight and Family of the Month Knight John Langan Johnny John Langan joined the Knights of Columbus in 1977. (Yes, he really is that old.) In 1982, John served as Grand Knight of Council 8141 Sacred Heart Church in Austin. John serves the Church and the Knights as a religious guidepost for others seeking spiritual involvement in our faith. He manages the volunteer lists for the church ministries, coordinates Masses and Eucharistic Services for Council meetings, and participates in RCIA, music ministry and other Church events. He set the example for his family who actively participate in various church ministries. For his exemplary performance as a Knight, a husband, a father and a friend, congratulate John as our Knight of the Month for March 2015. Family Mike & Criselda Chris Torres Miguel Mike and Criselda Cris Torres exemplify the ideals of a Knights of Columbus family. With an active military schedule, Mike volunteered to be our Community Director. He decided to Chair the annual family picnic where we invite Knights, their families, the Boy Scouts and the altar servers. He also recently agreed to Chair the end of school swim party. He regularly attends Council business and planning meetings, providing timely and insightful input on critical Council issues. As a family, Mike, Cris and their daughters {Myriel (11), Isabella (9), Natalia (6)} regularly attend Church and religious education. They are actively involved in the Military Fellowship Ministry and Open Hearts Ministry (a Special Needs ministry at St Catherine's, which has received national recognition). Join me in congratulating Mike, Cris and his daughters as our Family of the Month for March 2015.

Page 4 Knightly News College Scholarships 2015 Our council will again be providing $1000 scholarships for full time students attending college in school year 2015-2016. The scholarships are based on charitable service. The scholarships are available to: Knights of council 8156 in good standing, their spouses and their children Spouses and children of a deceased member in good standing of council 8156 Registered members of St. Catherine of Siena parish, Austin TX Full details and rules are in the scholarship application at: www.kofc8156.org Easter Egg Hunt The annual parish Easter hunt will be held on April 4th. Thanks to the youth group, they will be "preparing" the eggs on Palm Sunday RE. We will need 2-3 egg distributors of the eggs starting at 8:30 am. The egg hunters will be given the starting gun at 10 am after we have a blessing of the Easter baskets. We hope to have as many council members with children ages 1-?? there enjoying the festivities. Pro-Life Ed Empero (Dedicated to the memory of Eddie Kruczek a pro-life advocate) Brothers over the last few months of my articles, I wrote about the Evil in Life Issues. I wrote mostly about Abortion. We all know that Life Issues are encountered from Womb to Tomb. We are involved with a Spiritual War! The main Evil Spirit is the Devil. The more we say there is not a Devil, the more he likes it and destroys many many lives. The Devil does not make you do anything. You have Free Will. This is a gift from GOD. The Devil is your enemy. Know how to deal with your temptations and reject him. The Devil s tactics are, divide and conquer. GOD performs miracles. The Devil performs illusions! Always be true to your Church. The Catholic Church is the True Church of JESUS CHRIST OUR GOD! GOD BLESS ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS!!
