MISSION STATEMENT Saint Patrick Parish is a Christian community of disciples in the Roman Catholic tradition, called by Jesus, united in Eucharistic worship and growing in faith, hope and love. Nourished through the sacraments and strengthened by God s transforming love, we are empowered to know the gospel message and to bear witness to others. As Christian stewards, we are thankful for God s many gifts and we commit ourselves to share our time, talent and treasure in Christ-like service within our parish community and beyond. We seek God s blessing and guidance to be faithful to this mission.

FROM FR. HERB Dear Friends, What a joy last Sunday was with our Parish picnic. The parish community of Saint Patrick, Disciples of Christ, all members of His one body, gathered on the Feast of Corpus Christi to celebrate and honor our Pastor Emeritus. The celebration of Fr. Travers 50 th Anniversary, of his ordination, was a blessing for us to take part in. We are so grateful for his many years of ministry to the Church of Saint Patrick and the community of Highland Mills. Last Wednesday, I was informed that our parish, by way of the generosity of 151 families, have once again made its goal for the Annual Cardinal s Stewardship Appeal. Our goal was $48,000.00 and as of last Wednesday, we have raised $49,095.25. Thank you all for your continuing generosity, not only to this annual appeal, but also to our weekly collection. Next Sunday, June 21 st, is Father s Day. As we did last month on Mother s Day, we will offer all masses for our living and deceased fathers. All Father s Day Memorial envelopes will be place on the altar starting next Sunday and will remain there for the rest of the month of June. For those who may not receive parish envelopes in the mail, there are Father s Day envelopes available at each exit of the church. May God continue to bless all the good that we do in the image and likeness of His Son. - Rev. Herbert T. DeGaris AA MEETINGS Every Monday, 6:30 pm 7:30 pm and Wednesday, 6:30 pm 7:30 pm and 7:45 pm 8:45 pm, Double Meeting, in the Lower Church Hall. ADULT BIBLE STUDY Our next meeting will be on Thursday, June 25th. We will finish our current study of John s Gospel and Letters, discussing his second and Third Letters. As usual, we will gather in Room 10 of the Parish Center (aka Religious Education Building) at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to join us. After this we will probably continue with the last book of John, REVELATION. This is the awesome and mysterious last book of the Bible, and one best studied in a group, where we can help one another. We may meet in the summer and early fall, as members prefer. St. Patrick s Vacation Bible School Student Registration is ongoing for our VBS program held from June 29-July 3. With over 120 teen and 60 adult volunteers, our VBS team is preparing for a wonderful week. Our final Volunteer Meeting will be held on Saturday June 20 at 8:30am in the gym at St. Patrick s Parish Center. Any questions: Theresa 781-0347 or StPatrickshmvbs@gmail.com A Note from Fr. G. Travers Sunday was one of the great days of my priesthood. What a fitting way to celebrate my fifty years as a priest. Thank you to Fr. Herb for giving me the opportunity to celebrate Mass and to be the guest of honor at the picnic that followed. A special thank you to the choir and the musicians who made the Mass so beautiful. Thank you to the committee for all the hard work in putting together the picnic. Many thanks to all who brought, cooked and served the delicious food. And, thank you to all who attended. Looking back at my pastorate at St. Patrick s, I feel blessed to have shared my pastoral ministry with the Vincentian priests namely Fr. Sebastian, Fr. Thomas, Fr. John and Fr. Jacob. St. Patrick s is always in my prayers. Parish Picnic Everything about our Parish Picnic held last Sunday was beautiful: the Mass celebrated by Fr. Travers, the music, the homily, the weather, the large turnout, the many volunteers and the wonderful outpouring of love from friends and family. Many thanks to the Woodbury Community Association for their barbecuing expertise, to Colleen (Jay s Deli) for her ever-present generosity, to Shop Rite for their food donations, to our Religious Education families for their paper goods/drink donations, to all the parishioners who brought side dishes (the spread of food was quite impressive!) and to the many volunteers that planned, setup, and cleaned up. A very special thank you to Fr. Travers for celebrating his Golden Jubilee with us. Congratulations on 50 years of ministry. arish PicniPPppp Student Registration for VBS is now OPEN!
