Director of Missions Thoughts Lamentations 3:22 It is of the LORD S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (NKJV) Do you ever wish you could start your day over? I have had days like that. The hot water is out, the toaster goes on strike, every stitch of clothing you have is either in the dirty clothes pile or wrinkled like a Shar-Pei. You get out to your car and it won t start or a tire is flat. And you wish for that day you could take a mulligan, a do over. It is on those days, when I finally settle down and think about it, that I praise God that His mercies and compassions are new every morning. That no matter how bad today is, tomorrow is a new day. Do you ever wonder why God puts up with all that we do wrong? Is it because He does not see it? Is it because He is too busy with bigger things? Actually, it is neither. He allows us to fail because He is merciful. You see, God would still be just if He punished us the first time and every time we sinned. We disobeyed Him and as such He has the right to exact punishment. But yet, He does not punish us every time we sin immediately after the infraction. Why not? Simply because of His mercy and His compassion. God knows how we are made. He knows our bent for sin. Now, let me be clear. He is not okay with sin. It does not make Him smile. But His mercies and compassion are what keep us from the punishment we deserve, and included with all that is God s faithfulness. You can count on Him to hear His children when they pray. You can count on His promises. And His promises, faithfulness, mercy and compassion NEVER wear out. They are new or renewed every morning. I know I for one struggle with wanting people to be more perfect and dependable than I am. And if God can give us mercy and show compassion on us when we make mistakes, or even the same mistake for the 500 th time. Then should we not go and do likewise? We are called to forgive as we were forgiven. And yet, all too often we want to be forgiven but hold on to our grudges. This is not the example that has been set for us. So today, thank God for His compassion, faithfulness and mercies. And then look for opportunities to go and do likewise, and find ways to have compassion and mercy on those around you. Just a reminder to our churches that the deadline to submit news for the Newsletter is the 15th of each month. Just send us an email to minassistant@mallary-baptist.org ENGAGE, ENCOURAGE, EMPOWER

We would love some help with packing, organizing and boxing the backpacks for the Appalachian Region. We will be working on them October 6th and 10th starting at 1 pm. If you are available either day, we would love for you to join us as we prepare to bless children in a very poor area this Christmas. Make plans now to be a messenger at the Mallary Baptist Association Annual Meeting. We are looking forward to a great meeting as we celebrate what the Lord has done this past year in, around and through our churches. Look for special times when we celebrate: Mission Trips to Louisiana, New York City, and Ft. Peck - a Montana Indian Reservation. Mission Trips to Brazil, Honduras, and the Rio Olympics. What we as Christians can do to stand firm on the Word of God in our current culture of unbelief. And much, much more!
