I thank you for the confidence you have in me to select me for a second term. I learned an awful lot in my first term. I feel much more prepared for the duties and responsibilities of the office now. During this past year we overcame some critical challenges but have many unsolved ones to resolve this year. Some of my goals last year did not get done. We will have a Council Budget, we will meet our recruiting goals and we will continue to look for fun events as well as profitable adventures. Some new ideas from last year were tried; some worked, some didn't. But we all learned something from these efforts. Important to note is that recent history showed we hadn't been very creative. This past year we had members creatively step up with innovation and some took criticism but we worked together and learned. I am proud of everyone who participated in our activities. You are the ones who know the true meaning of fraternity and brotherhood. Thank you. Now getting on with this fraternal year, I appeal to each of you to consider doing something for the Council. Your talents will fit somewhere, just ask. We certainly will from time to time I will be calling some of you and soliciting your help in various activities, prayerfully consider your response. For those who are unable to be physically present due to health, family, job etc you still can promote and talk up our activities, contribute in some manner. Our Bingo sessions on Fridays and Sundays need more volunteers, the kitchen needs more volunteers and meeting attendance could certainly improve. Once again, we have miles to go before we sleep. Fourteenth Annual Priest & Religious Appreciation Night The Western Metroplex Chapter, Knights of Columbus, will hold the Fourteenth Annual Priest and Religious Appreciation Night on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. The event will be at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church located at 2100 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, 76012. The function is to recognize our Priest, Deacons, Brothers and Sisters of the Fort Worth Diocese. A Live and Silent Auction will be held. The proceeds will be applied to the Various Councils State Charities goal. The Silent Auction will start at 5:30 PM. Dinner followed by the Live Auction will start at 7:00 PM. Come and join in the fun. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased from your Grand Knight. Seating is limited. Also, Sponsor Tables are available for $100.00.
