Order of Worship GATHERING 10:30 a.m. Prelude Welcome and Announcements Time of Silence Introit Psalm 150 Lloyd Larson, 2001 Chancel Choir (Congregation sings when led by director) Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation. O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation. All ye who hear, now to his temple draw near. Join me in glad adoration! Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him! All that hath life and breath, Come now with praises before Him! Let the Amen sound from His people again: Gladly forever adore Him! Call to Worship Out of the darkness of grief and despair comes a message of hope. Christ is risen. Christ is risen, indeed. We run to the tomb to see for ourselves. And it is true. Christ is risen. Christ is risen, indeed. We hear a voice call our name, and we know our risen Lord is with us now and always. Christ is risen. Christ is risen, indeed. Thanks be to God. Prayer of Praise and Adoration *Hymn of Praise No. 123 Jesus Christ is Risen Today Scripture Reading 1 Corinthians 15:19-26 (Pew Bible, NT pg. 166) Call to Confession Unison Prayer of Confession Loving God, we confess that at times we do not share in the joy of the resurrection but are caught in the worries of the world. We confess that we do not always live in the spirit of new life but remain discontent, grumbling and anxious. Forgive us for not sharing in the Good News. Forgive us when we find it more comfortable to worry and complain than to risk the joy and encouragement of new life in Christ. Call us back to Your ways, O God, to seek hope and reconciliation, restoration and peace. In the name of the Risen Christ, we pray. (Moment of Silent Confession) Assurance of Pardon *Passing of the Peace Celebration of Baptism James Frederick Ingram Justin and Elizabeth Ingram, parents Blessing of Children tune - Hymn No. 535, Tallis Canon Go with them, Lord, and guide their way, through this and every coming day, That in Your spirit strong and true, their lives may be a gift to You. Mark Hayes, 2012 Chancel Choir Prayers of the People and the Lord s Prayer SENDING *Hymn of Response (bulletin, pg. 6) Because He Lives *Litany of Sending Go forth as people of the resurrection with renewed hope, Trusting in the transforming love of God. God does not leave things as they are; With God, all things are made new. All creation responds to God s presence; The world is alive with possibility. We are people of the resurrection, open to this truth; With Christ, we trust our whole lives to God. Nothing is beyond the reach of God; Neither evil, nor hardship, nor death. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed. Postlude Hallelujah Chorus G.F.Handel *All who are able may stand

The Sacrament of Baptism James Frederick Ingram, Justin and Elizabeth Ingram, parents Scripture Sentences Hear these words from Scripture Matthew 28:18-20 All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age. Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all. Acts 2:39 The promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls. Statement on the Meaning of Baptism Obeying the word of our Lord Jesus Christ, and confident of his promises, we baptize those whom God has called. In baptism God claims us, and seals us to show that we belong to God. God frees us from sin and death, uniting us with Jesus Christ in his death and resurrection. By water and the Holy Spirit, we are made members of the church, the body of Christ, and joined to Christ s ministry of love, peace, and justice. Let us remember with joy our own baptism, as we celebrate this sacrament. Questions to the Parents Do you desire that James be baptized? Relying on God s grace, do you promise to live the Christian faith and to teach that faith to your child? Question to the Congregation Do you as members of the church of Jesus Christ, promise to guide and nurture James by word and deed, with love and prayer, encouraging him to know and to follow Christ and to be a faithful member of his church? *Profession of Faith With the whole church let us confess or faith, the faith into which we baptize James. I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our, Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. The Prayer of Thanksgiving Over the Water Baptism Welcome James has been received into the holy catholic and apostolic church through baptism. God has made him a member of the household of God, to share with us in the priesthood of Christ. Let us welcome the newly baptized. Hymn - God Claims You Refrain James, James, God claims you, God helps you, protects you, and loves you too. Verses 1. We this day do all agree, a child of God you ll always be. (Refrain) 2. We your family love you so, we vow to help your faith to grow. (Refrain) 3. We are here to say this day that we will help you on your way. (Refrain) 4. And if you should tire or cry then we will sing this lullaby. (Refrain)
