Paw Creek Presbyterian Church July 20, 2016 News at Paw Creek From the Pastor... Office Information Physical Address: (no mail received here) 7400 Mt. Holly Rd. Charlotte, NC 28214 Hours: Monday thru Thursday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Telephone: (704) 392-0329 Fax: (704) 392-4625 Psalm 67:1-7 (NRSV) 1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah 2 that your way may be known upon earth, your saving power among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah 5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. 6 The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has blessed us. 7 May God continue to bless us; let all the ends of the earth revere him. Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved the Psalms. They are so poetic and beautiful and have always been a source of comfort for me. Whether I am distressed or confident, in need of deliverance or in need to praise God, the Psalms always have something upon which to lean. In the past weeks, there has been much distress in our country and indeed the world. Today, I needed to hear a Word from the Lord that could be my offering of praise to God. So, I share Psalm 67 with you that you may also offer praise and ask God s blessings to reign and rain upon you. As one commentator puts it: Whatever the circumstances of our lives, God is God and He is worthy of our praise. He loves us and has made a covenant with us through the blood of His only Son, whom He gave to die for our sins. May we learn to praise Him at all times, in trials and triumphs, in burdens and blessings, in gains and losses, in good and bad! We had a great meeting at the end of June. Several people experimented on the plastic bag crochet and Dina gave a great demo of it. We also decided to give proceeds for the Critter Sale at Christmas at Paw Creek to Love Ink, a charity that builds wheelchair ramps for those in need. We will NOT be having a meeting in July...our next meeting will be August 30th, 7:00 PM, in the Church Parlor at Paw Creek. With your break, please take time to locate some new critter patterns and try you hand at doing one, particularly the fish pattern handed out earlier. It is great for beginners. See you in August! Looking For Communion Table Cloth A couple of months ago after communion someone was helping clean up and decided to take the table cloth and clean it. I know for sure they have cleaned it and hung it in their closet with the best of intentions of bringing it back to church and they have simply forgotten. Like me in all the things I do "out of sight out of mind"! So this is just to remind you to please return the table cloth. Please reach out to Karen Sisk if you have any questions.
