If you cannot be present to pray with us at the parish at these times, simply join in prayer with us spiritually by briefly thinking of our Lord s Passion & Death every day at 3:00pm and especially on Friday s at 3:00pm by simply praying the words, Jesus I Trust in You. Donna Marie Stanislaw EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Brothers and sisters, consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully, Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written: He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever. The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You are being enriched in every way for all generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God. (2 COR 9:6-11) Please prayerfully consider committing to a weekly hour with Our Lord. We are in need of committed Adorers for the following hours: Wednesdays 3pm-4pm; Thursdays 1pm-2pm, 2pm- 3pm and 3pm-4pm, 4pm-5pm, 7pm-8pm, 10pm- 11pm; and Fridays 4pm-5pm, 8pm-9pm, 9pm-10pm, 11pm to midnight; and Saturdays 3am-4am. St. John the Evangelist Weekly Bulletin Dear Folks, Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time Many many thanks goes out to Mrs. Christy Williams, for her many years as sacristan and floral designer for the church especially the seasons of Christmas and Easter. She gets all the credit. Of course, the one concern I always had, was watching her or a family member, climbing the wall behind the tabernacle and draping the cloths over the crucifix during Lent and the Easter seasons. That is a long way up with a narrow lip of a wall at the top. God bless her for the many blessings she brought to the devotional life of the parish. She will be replaced by Mrs. Norma Francis and a newly formed altar society for the parish. More on that anon. In the closing of the school Carl Norskog and Dennis Bachette, owners the Carousel Frozen Treats, located, at the intersection of the Rt. 29 bypass and Waterloo Street, swept into the school grounds to provide ice cream for the students who would soon depart for the Summer. In honor of Mrs. Jo Maybach, all the ice cream was on the house. Wouldn t you know it Carl and Peter Maybach gave me a twelve inch vanilla chocolate swirl ice cream cone and took my picture receiving it. There goes the diet. There will be a great scandal if you tell Judy, the housekeeper. She has me on a strict diet. God bless Carl and Dennis. Hope they all have a great Summer. Please, please, please, I am still looking for pictures of our parishioners currently serving in the military. We will place the pictures on a wall near the front of the church encouraging everyone to pray the Lord send His angels to watch over them. Let us all remember a daily prayer for our loved ones serving in Harm s Way. This weekend twenty-five of the kids from the parish will be going off to the annual diocesan work camp. That is the largest number of kids we have ever sent. God bless the adults who join them in offering their time and talents to the needy around the Fredericksburg area. I have asked at least one student to speak at each Mass next weekend, thanking you folks for helping them to raise money for the project. Well done by young and old alike. Let us pray for one another. For the many of you observing the Five First Saturday Devotions Saturday July 1 st is your day for the Box. The parish will also be blessed with arrival of the Pilgrim Virgin Statue. It will be placed in the church for the day. Not to worry the statue will return Thursday July 13 th. Sunday July 16 th will also be a day when scapulars will be given out. Fr. Fimian mentioned that he and Fr. Daniel Gee, pastor of St. Rita s parish, Alexandria will direct a retreat for young men on July 18-25 th. It will take place a private home in Lexington, Virginia. By young men he assumes the retreat ants will be over 21. Collegiate Answer: Saint Alphonsa (19 August 1910 28 July 1946) was a Syro-Malabar Catholic Franciscan nun who is now honored as a saint. Sister Alphonsa became the first native Indian saint, canonized in 2008. She was the first woman of Indian origin to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church, and the first canonized saint of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic Church of the Saint Thomas Christian community. Collegiate Question: For visitors traveling off to New York this Summer, who discovered Coney Island, home to the first roller coaster. And how did he end his career as an explorer never to be seen again. Hmm? Mysterious. Father Gould 4

If you haven t started yet, don t despair, because Our Lady of Fatima s promise can be counted on whenever you start. But don t delay; start as soon as you can so Our Lady can assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all those who on the first Saturday of five consecutive months: 1) Go to Confession, 2) Receive Holy Communion, 3) Pray five decades of the Rosary, and 4) Meditate for 15 minutes on the Mysteries of the Rosary with the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
