We did not reach our goal this year of $52,500, but we appreciate your sacrifice and your continued support. Our parish goal for 2019 is the same amount of $52,500. We will get more inserts with information for this year s appeal. When you send your donation or your pledge to the Diocese of Oakland don t forget to write St. Edward Church, Newark, that way they will credit that donation to our goal. If we go over $52,500, the Diocese will give back to our Church the amount over from $52,500. Thank you for your help! Chrism Mass All are invited to the Chrism Mass, celebrated April 11, 6:30 p.m. at Cathedral of Christ the Light. This liturgy, celebrated by Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ, unites the diocese in recalling the gifts of the priesthood and the Eucharist. The Oil of the Sick and the Oil of the Catechumens are blessed and the Sacred Chrism is consecrated at this time. These holy oils impact the lives of those who are preparing to enter into the Church, those who are ill, and all preparing for confirmation and holy orders. In a sign of unity and fidelity, the priests of the diocese concelebrate the Mass with our bishop and recommit themselves to their priestly ministry. Memoriam Please remember in your prayers Meriyildo Sira who has completed his earthly journey and now lives in the presence of the Risen Lord.
