NEWS FROM THE PARISH COUNCIL In 1994 Pope John Paul II requested the faithful to take up again the praying of the Prayer to St. Michael in the battle of our times "against the forces of darkness and against the spirit of this world." It has been discussed and approved by the Parish Council that All Souls, beginning in June, will reinstate the recitation of this prayer after the final blessing, before the procession, at each mass. The prayer can be found on the back of your Today s Missal & can be easily memorized & prayed often in our personal prayer as well as after Mass. Prayer to St. Michael St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan, and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. ALL SOULS WOMEN S WHITE HOUSE RETREAT The St. Anne Sodality will be sponsoring a Retreat for Women at the beautiful and newly renovated White House Retreat Center overlooking the Mississippi River in South County. The cost of the retreat includes a private room and bath, all meals/snacks and inspirational speakers. A $50 deposit per room is due at the time of reservation and a free will offering at the end of the retreat is appreciated by the White House to cover the actual cost of $400 per person. While there is no charge for delivery, there will be a charge of $11 for the cost of each dinner ordered. This should be paid in cash or check for the exact amount at the time of delivery. The Festival Dinner is Sunday, June 24th. Meals will be delivered between 12 & 1pm To order a chicken or beef dinner, contact: Mary Ellen Wurm at 420-1708 before June 18th ALL SOULS AT OVERLAND PARADE Even though we experienced intermittent rain last Saturday, the sun shone brightly on the Overland Block Party Parade. At 3pm sharp, Overland dignitaries in classic cars entered Lackland at Trescott to begin the parade of cars and floats that were headed into downtown Overland. Lackland and Woodson Roads were lined with families who came out to enjoy the parade and the delightful weather! For the first time, All Souls Church had an entry in the parade, which was named Aloha Sumer and sported a beach theme. Mr. Kevin Faron and his family put banners on his truck and tossed beach balls emblazoned with the dates of our parish Festival later this month. Another All Souls car in the parade also distributed beach balls, which were a big hit along the route. Scout Troop 284 also joined in and Overland Hardware was featured as the Best Business of 2018 by the Overland Business Men s Association, sponsor of the Parade. It was an afternoon of fun and pride for our parish and the Overland community and hopefully those beach balls will remind folks about our upcoming Parish Festival!
