Easter Sunday of The Resurrection of the Lord April 1, 2018 Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton Bishop of Belleville We, the people of St. Clare Catholic Parish, In the Diocese of Belleville, are called by God in baptism to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Centered in the Eucharist, and strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we strive to live the Gospel and further the reign of God. We do this by creating a vibrant faith community, by actively promoting justice and evangelization, and by using our gifts in the service of God s people, to give God glory and reverence all of Creation. From Our Pastor... A Happy and Blessed Easter to You! Praise God for the many signs of Christ s Resurrection here at St. Clare! During these next seven weeks of Easter may each of us seek out ways that we can be people of the Resurrection in what we say and do that gives life to others. I call your attention to extra things in the bulletin this weekend to help you either get reconnected to God and your parish or strengthen these relationships. Our parish offers a special welcome to all those among us this weekend who are coming back to the Church for Easter. I pray that if you have been away for a while, the Holy Spirit will touch your heart with a renewed commitment to return here every Sunday to Keep Holy the Sabbath day and show your gratitude to God for the blessings in your life. If you have been away from the Church and have questions or want to get reconnected please call me at the parish office (632-3562) or email me (via our website) to set up a time to visit. For those who are new to the area or looking for a new Church community, please stop by the welcome table today to register and become a full member. Two important things about next Sunday are: 1. First Holy Communion is at the 10:30 Mass. While it will be a regular Mass for all parishioners, do take note that at Communion time the children will come to Communion first which will take just a few extra minutes. May they inspire all of us to be more reverent in receiving Holy Communion. 2. It is also Divine Mercy Sunday a feast to celebrate the bounteous ways that God s Mercy helps us on a daily basis! A large devotional image of Jesus as Divine Mercy can be prayed at in our St. Joseph shrine. Please see the schedule of prayers for this day on the next page as we are hosting for this devotion for the whole Belleville area. May our parish continue to be a witness to Christ s Resurrection! Fr. Jim Deiters PS: I want to extend an extra THANK YOU for all your prayers and support for my family and me during this time of grief in losing my sister, Rita Duncan. My mother, siblings and Rita s husband and sons also send their words of sincere gratitude for all your prayers as they have truly helped and consoled us. We extend our prayerful sympathy to the families of Rita Ferreri and Michael McFadden. May they rest in the peace of Christ. We pray for all who have died and all who are mourning the death of a loved one. We are so excited to initiate Gabriel and Anna through Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist and receive Michael, Victoria and Melinda into Full Communion through Confirmation and Eucharist. We regret not having a biographical profile of Melinda Meek in our March 2018 edition of the parish newsletter. Melinda is married to Gary Meek, and they have two children, Lochlan and Lillienne Meek, both 6. Her sponsor is lifelong friend Megan Bertelsman. Melinda found her way to the Catholic Church through selecting St. Clare School for her children. She has received a wealth of knowledge and inspiration and a new spiritual family through the RCIA process. She chose St. Gianna Beretta Molla as her Confirmation saint since she was a career woman, happy wife and mother of 4 who spread the love of Christ through her everyday work and the beauty of a Christian family, harmonizing all aspects of her busy life.
