Our services are childrenfriendly, with a Sunday School for very young children and their carers, which starts after the first 20 minutes of the service. Coffee and Tea are served after each Sunday service in the downstairs rooms. Please do join us. #Do1NiceThing Lent Challenge Lent is a time of preparation around remembering the forty days Jesus spent in the desert praying and preparing for his public ministry. It is the period from Ash Wednesday to the events of Easter weekend - a time traditionally of giving up - but this year can we also encourage you to GIVE OUT? #Do1NiceThing is about loving and serving others and the wider community. It is about being the change, making positive steps to make life better for others (and yourself in the process!). The ideas are generally very simple and require not much thought or preplanning. If you don't like one of the ideas, do something else! #Do1NiceThing also links with The Big Read Barefoot Prayers - visit www.loveyourstreets.org.uk for more details. We are also encouraging people to tweet and facebook the daily ideas and other thoughts using #Do1NiceThing. If you wish to discuss a wedding or christening, please see one of the authorized persons at the front desk after a Sunday service. ~ 3 ~

CHRISTIAN AID LENT CALENDAR It has long been common practise amongst Christians, and others as well, to give up something that we particularly enjoy during Lent, such as chocolate, cake, alcohol etc., as an exercise in self-denial and discipline. Christian Aid have produced an alternative way of making Lent count with their 'Count Your Blessings' Lent Calendar. This combines a series of daily reflections and actions with suggested small donations of money, to inspire you to give thanks for the blessings in your life, and to enable you to help change the lives of poor communities around the world. For those into modern technology, a free 'Count Your Blessings' app is available from the Apple Store or Google Play, delivered straight to your smart phone, ipad or ipod touch. We really value your support. Having people such as yourselves giving regularly is very much appreciated as it keeps our shelves stocked up month by month. In 2011 we gave out 1434 bags of food, in 2012 it went up to 3586 bags and in 2013 it was a staggering 7843. We expect the next few months to be very busy as people find it harder to cope with the cold weather and post Christmas debt. Donations of money also play an important part in our work and although we are no longer receiving the larger amounts from businesses we are getting lots of individual donations from a broader range of people. We spend a large amount of this on staple items such as milk, cereals, pasta sauce, rice pudding and tinned fruit to make sure we have a good balance of food in the bags. We really value your support and it is very much appreciated. Yours sincerely June Fawthrop Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank ~ 7 ~
