Saturday and Sunday June 10-11, 2017 www.stjudecatholic.org Brothers and sisters, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. (2 Cor. 13:11-13) Dear Friends, As we continue our way into summer, I need to take this opportunity to let you know about a change in our Mass schedule; specifically, our weekday (daily) Mass schedule. Our weekend Mass schedule remains the same. However, beginning Wednesday July 5, we will no longer be offering an 8:15am Mass on Wednesdays. As you can see on the cover of this bulletin, we will retain all of our other weekday Mass times, including the noon Mass on Wednesday. I came to this decision after consultation with our parish staff and our Parish Council. Here s a little bit of the history: we implemented the Wednesday noon Mass shortly after Fr. Mike arrived. We implemented it for Lent, but this Mass time was so well received, that we kept it every week since then. Now that Fr. Mike has passed, and given my responsibilities here and at the diocesan level (i.e. Task Force and, now, Personnel Board), it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to be available for 2 Masses on Wednesday. Again, please remember that, prior to Fr. Mike s arrival with us, our schedule offered one Mass on Wednesdays. I struggled with this decision, but after consideration of the significant number of people who attend the noon Wednesday Mass, and also considering that this Mass time serves a group of people who are unable to attend in the morning or evening, I felt it best to retain the noon Mass. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause to our morning Mass goers, but I am confident that you will understand. I truly enjoy weekday Mass with you and am especially grateful to Les Gendron (who sets up and serves for morning Mass), and Oscar Udoh and Helena Chan who set up for the Tuesday evening and Wednesday noon Mass, and all of you who read and assist with communion. Again, I thank you for your understanding. Have a great week! Sincerely, Fr. Trey Nelson Pastor

Thank you St. Jude parishioners, school students & KC s Thank you parishioners for answering our church s call to minister to the poor by donating to the Haiti Mission that St. Jude supports. This year, using the cotton bags provided during Lent, we collected $2,607.77 in the collection baskets, our school children collected $1,625.76 and our KC Council donated $650. St. Jude was able to send the mission a total of $4,883.53 thanks to your generosity. This money is used by the mission to supply food and medicine to the children of the extreme poor in their area. We sincerely thank you. Congratulations and Thank You St. Jude KC s Congratulations to our Knights of Columbus council for being nominated for the VIPS Award this year. Their commitment to representing our parish in this noteworthy community outreach program is commendable and inspiring. St. Jude thanks you for your work on behalf of our Catholic church. The St. Jude Knights of Columbus Council 9692 was nominated this year for the VIPS Award (Volunteers in Public Schools Community Partner) by Margot Morgan-Forbes, principal of Arlington Prep Academy (APA). Arlington Prep Academy is a public high school for young adults with mental disabilities. Since the formation of the St. Jude KC Council, part of the donations received from the annual Tootsie Roll Drive has been given to APA as part of the KC Council s commitment to community activities. The money is used by APA to buy needed equipment or other large items needed that is not covered in their school s budget. A picnic was held on May 9th at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for the awards ceremony. KC Council 9692 was represented by Rick Graham, Dave & Carol Goldsmith and Primas & Marian Jagers. While our Council did not win the award, it was a great honor to be nominated and an enjoyable event. Grateful, Ms. Morgan-Forbes wanted to acknowledge and thank our KC council for what it has done for them over the years. Shown in the photograph is Marian & Primas Jagers, Frank Zaeringer, Margo Morgan-Forbes, the nominating sponsor, Dave Goldsmith and Rick Graham.
