What does the Church teach about Immigration? Seeing beyond politics to find it is a scriptural and moral issue. Facilitated by: Dr. Libby Garcia When: 3 part series concludes on Thursday, October 25, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Where: Little Flower Formation Center in Sr. Joan s Room. RSVP: Sarah Nelson, snelson@ctkpueblo.org, or 719-542-9248 Ext. 121 Learning objectives for the talks on Immigration: 1) Identify Scripture passages that refer to the human dignity of Immigrants and Refugees. 2) Review 3 basic principles of Catholic Social teaching on Immigration and Immigrants. 3) Discuss the current US Immigration issues through a lens of Faith, Tradition and Catholic Teaching; including a presentation by Pueblo Catholic Charities. The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated after all Masses this weekend October 20-21 GUIDELINES FOR ANOINTING OF THE SICK The Anointing of the Sick is intended for baptized Catholics, at least 7 years old, whose health is seriously impaired. Seriously impaired includes: Someone with a serious or chronic illness an elderly person whose health is weakening a sick person prior to surgery a person suffering from addictions or mental illness Have you had any miracles in your life? Let us know about them. We'd love to share them here with our parish family to re-enforce that God continues to work great things in our lives today. Leave a message with Mary Meissner at 542-9248 Ext. 111. SEPTEMBER 2018 YTD FINANCIAL REPORT For the end of September, our budget projected that our offertory collection since July 1 would be $98,262; we actually collected $100,093, or $1,831 in the black. Our accumulated expenses were projected on our budget to be at $132,110; actual expenses amounted to $135,202. Expenses were higher than projected by $3,092. The blip was making a lump sum annual insurance payment of $14,700 so we don t need to wring our hands over the deficit. If we add in all of our income sources, we are still $820 in the black; we had projected to be at $4,334, but had not expected Headstart to leave our formation center, with the loss of that income stream. 2018 DMF REPORT (DIOCESAN MINISTRY FUND) Our goal (or debt, really) to the Diocese is still at $12,252.90, so please mark your envelopes so you give one-third of your gift to DMF and the rest to our parish. Then we ll be fine! The DMF accounting year ends on January 31. Anything collected in excess of our goal will be returned to our parish in May when refund checks are issued to parishes who have overpaid. I ll breathe easier knowing that s coming, instead of a deficit bill! Thanks to all of you who help pay this off and who understand we get our share of services the Diocese provides to us. Fr. John O. The Altar & Rosary Society will have their Christmas Gift Shop on November 10 & 11 in Adrians Hall. They are asking parishioners for help with Baked Goods for the Bake Sale. They are also looking for help in the kitchen, selling tickets, etc. If you can spare a couple hours of your time please contact: Sandy Musso at 544-1741. If you can donate baked goods call Patricia Vigil at 720-281-5699. If you can help in the kitchen call Stella Romero at 584-2935.
