Post 142 Pompano Beach American Legion News Sterling McClellan Post 142 ~ 171 SW 2nd Street ~ Pompano Beach, FL 33060 ~ 954-942-2448 Web Site: www.alpost142.com ~ E-mail: legion@alpost142.com July, 2014 Message from the Commander My Legion family, this is my last contribution of my first term as your Commander. I m happy to report that our Post had a very good year. We were (are) fortunate to have those able members who Stepped up and got it done with what was (is) needed. If you read my intro in prior newsletters I ve mentioned some, not all. For them I am and you should be grateful. Because of a few, we maintain and exist. Let s not lose focus about WHO we are and WHAT we represent. Yes, we have a fine lounge family, Where everybody knows your name, and take part in our many functions. We need to remember that part of every dollar spent at our Post is going to a cause. We are the American Legion, we honor those who sacrificed and wore the uniform and still do, in defense of our Constitution and our Flag. We are of the few that support and promote Americanism in our nation today. A smiled salute to all who supported me through my first term as your Commander. In closing please check out the bulletin s posted in the lounge. We try to keep everyone entertained along with the many fund raisers that enable us to support our programs. For God, Country and Family. John A Silva Commander Post Everlasting Alexander Hambone Wilson John Schutz 1st Vice Commanders Report You will now be receiving your renewal forms from National for 2015. Let s start this year out on a positive note and get your renewals in so that we can make our goals. We did not make our membership goals this past year. Remember that you can send in your renewals, drop them by the Post or renew on line at Legion.org. This past year we had a program where if you brought in 3 or more new members that the Post would pay for your 2015 membership dues. Thanks to our members that accomplished this.
