Editor April 2017 Notes From March Session Meeting Submitted by: Jody Iaderosa, Clerk of Session The old steps outside the church office in Anderson hall are gone. That office entrance has been unnecessary since indoor stairs were built about 20 years ago. Rather than building an egress window, a regular door with large glass will be installed with a metal safety balcony by Jeff Hartman. The furnace in the Community House is getting old. A new one could be purchased for a $4,600 now, but price could increase sharply in the future. Youth Sunday in April 30. Students are practicing a play. Susan Beck is working with the senior class on the Baccalaureate Service on May 21. Ideas for a summer program for children were discussed. We don't have enough people to do VBS without working with another church. The 2017 budget was approved. Our summer program at the gazebo will resume with Music in the Gazebo and karaoke. Jody would like to visit our neighbors to 'apologize for the inconvenience" and invite them to join us, if anyone would go with her. Blue Denim Sunday is April 2. Please bring your cleaning supplies and dig in. There will also be an effort to spruce up the narthex. We host Presbytery meetings for members of all Presbyterian churches in this region to come together for worship and sharing information on what is going on in our churches. Anyone interested my attend. Women meet on April 8 and Presbytery (men & women) on May 4. Missing Items from Kitchen We are missing the following items from the hall kitchen. If you have these, please return them as soon as you can, thanks! 2 large metal trays; 25x17: 2 1/4 inches deep 1 shallow metal tray; 25x17: 1 inch deep These are commercial aluminum cookware.

This month our artist will be Betty McCormick Please make sure and check out her work in the back of the church! It s that time of the year again everyone! Our Blue Denim Sunday is 4/2!. Please, wear your cleaning clothes and lets get down & dirty inside & out! I am sure the B&G committee, will have an idea of what needs done on the grounds, and those of us that have done this before will know what to do inside. As usual, there are always some extra jobs, such as cleaning windows in the hall, (we have a squeegee available), and wiping down bathroom stall doors in both buildings. There will be extra buckets, cleaning rags & other needs provided. BUT, if you have a special cleaner that you think works better, please bring them along, we would appreciate it! Jeff Hartman & Linda McMillin have informed us of any special cleaning areas that need done, other than our regular deep cleaning inside & landscaping needs. Since we have been doing this every year, we all know the regular duties, so grab what you need, and off we go! Thank you all! A light lunch will be available. 4/04 Jody Iaderosa 4/11 Vearl Sorenson 4/18 Bonnie Nichols 4/25 Joan Hilliard 5/2 Men s Group 5/9 Ruby Finley 5/16 VOTING 5/23 Jody Iaderosa See you in September! February Financial Expenses: $3,017.84 Salaries: $5,912.78 Total: $8,930.62 Income: $4,094.00 Due to the newsletter being mailed before the first, the figures will be a month off. Editor Children s Sermon 3/26/17 Jesus made the blind man see! How he did it is a miracle by our measure for sure yet here, Deron (one of our gifted Youth Pastors) shows the youth of today the fun of making "mud pies". I think it's fair to say that if JC could mix mud with his spit (John 9:1-41) and make sight in eyes that have never seen, then we can believe today in that old saying, "rub some dirt on it and get back in the game"! During this 4th Sunday in Lent, what challenges you or your beliefs? Turning to Christ might just be you getting back in this all important game, of Life! Posted on our FaceBook page by Craig Leigh. Thanks, Craig! Editor

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING God has called us to a new kind of fast - Not to give up our bread, but to share it. In Isaiah 58, God issues a call and a challenge to love one another by sharing what we have with those in need. One Great Hour of Sharing is our direct response to the ways in which God has called us to share. With your gift, you Loose The Bonds Of Injustice / Self-Development Of People SDOP works with grassroots groups to change structures that keep people living in poverty, oppression and injustice. Share Your Bread With The Hungry/ Presbyterian Hunger Program PHP is committed to alleviating hunger and eliminating its causes with long-term solutions including environmental stewardship, education and outreach. Bring The Homeless Poor Into Your House/ Presbyterian Disaster Assistance PDA responds to disasters around the world by providing immediate relief like food, water, and shelter, while helping to rebuild and address long-term recovery. This offering is going on now through Easter Sunday, 4/16. Please use the envelopes provided for your donation. Bulletin inserts with online information are on the back table with the bulletins. Is not this the fast that I choose: To loose the bonds of injustice, To undo the thongs of the yoke, To let the oppressed go free, And to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And bring the homeless poor into your house; When you see the naked, to cover them, And not to hide yourself from your own kin? - Isaiah 58:6-7 There has been so much talk about this disease and how many we have lost to it lately, that Susan Bennett & I wanted to share this with all of you.
