Currently, the weekly numbers we report are heavily skewed by the bi-weekly electronic deposits. Thus, we have decided to publish the monthly average at the end of the month since it will be a better indicator of actual offertory contributions and where we stand in relation to budgeted offertory projections. It will appear in the second weekend bulletin of the subsequent month. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to me. - Fr. Jeremy & Finance Council We will be celebrating the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception Friday, December 7th at 6pm and Saturday, December 8th at 8am. This is a Holy Day of Obligation. Please join us! WEEKLY LITURGICAL CALENDAR TITHE: The Visitation Sisters Building Project. This week's tithe recipient is for World Day of Cloistered Life - the Visitation Sisters. This world day of prayer for those in cloistered life is celebrated on the memorial of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Temple on November 21st. Bishop Thomas has asked that we consider a donation to the Visitation Sisters in our diocese around this celebration since they do not have the general ability to fund raise for themselves. Since we are so close in proximity to their cloistered monastery, and our students are involved in helping them in various ways, this tithe will go to supporting their continuing building and ministry needs. There are also envelopes in the gathering space if you would like to donate directly to the Visitation Sisters. Bishop Thomas has asked that the traditional St. Michael prayer be said more frequently in our parishes to combat intentionally the evil of the sexual abuse scandal in the Church. While we will not add this prayer to the Mass as will be the practice in some parishes, it will be included in the bulletin for a number of months for individual use. I certainly encourage all of us to pray for healing and purification in our Church - Fr. Jeremy St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen
From the Pastor Change of Office Hours on Sunday Morning Two years ago, office hours were added on Sunday morning to provide assistance to the large number of parishioners that attend the 11 a.m. Mass. Since Becky became the secretary in March 2018, I have had her recording her interactions on Sunday morning. The results were that she is only minimally utilized, and the most frequent things she is asked to provide (such as registration forms and electronic funds transfer forms) are already on the table in the Gathering Space. Thus, I have decided that her time would be better spent coming in earlier during the week. This allows us to open earlier during the weekdays and it allows Becky to spend Sunday with her home parish and family. If you ever need anything specific after 11 a.m Mass, please feel free to find myself, Pam, or Luke to assist you. Thanks for your understanding, Fr. Jeremy Sunday Night Dinners 2019 CCUP hosts a meal for all students after the 6:00 PM Mass on Sundays. Our students greatly appreciate the opportunity to socialize and eat real food! Please consider volunteering to be on a cooking team or wash dishes. Forms can be found in the Gathering Space or on our website. Contact Kim Kunkle for available dates. FOOD FOR OTHERS. Thank you very much for your response to the NOVEMBER food collection. We took 44 bags of food and other items to Augsburg Lutheran (a food pantry outreach center). They serve 250 people every month. Next collection weekend is December 16. Pax Christi thanks everyone for their GENEROSITY in donations and for also for those who help deliver the donations! MANNA BAGS: Our next Manna Bag sale will take place after the 4:30pm Mass on Dec. 8 and the 11am Mass on Dec. 9. There will be no sale after the Sunday evening Mass since this will be our special Pre-Christmas celebration. Manna bags are gallon-size ziploc bags filled with an assortment of non-perishable food items suitable to give to people in need that you encounter on the street or in your everyday travels. They are a great alternative to giving money or passing by someone who is in need. Each bag costs $3 and contains $3 worth of food. They are assembled by Pax Christi at cost - this is not a fundraiser. Stop by after Mass to stock up for this giving time of year!
