It is time for our council to move forward and begin to perform this program. I have appointed a committee to restructure the council budget to complete the funding requirements for the new programs. Some of the money will come from our fundraisers such as The Wing Ding, the four Parish breakfast events, the Lenten dinners, and the Chicken Dinner. One of the programs we will be doing is the Coats for Kids. We will plan a weekend collection from our parishioners after all Masses to help support this effort. We will also be working with the school on this event. All four St Joseph Knights of Columbus Councils will also be doing the Coats for Kids drive as a cooperative District #2 event. Each Council that participates will get full credit for doing this major event. Soon I will appoint a Council committee to go over our Council By-Laws to recommend needed new up-dates and guide lines, specifically with regard to the financial obligations and activity requirements of the membership. I am looking for a member who has the time and talents to give Len Archer a helping hand in the public relations area. Len has been assigned a significant list of Council duties to take care of and could use some assistance. Our next event will be the Wing Ding coming up on Sep 22 nd. This event will require a lot of coordination and help from our membership to complete all scheduled activities. Please consider jumping in and volunteering to help us out. There will be a volunteer sign-up sheet circulated at our next business meeting on Sep 4 th. The Council will serve a full Chicken Dinner that evening, in addition to hosting the Chicken Wing Ministry cooking competition, so if you are not able to attend the next business meeting, you can email the Grand Knight yogi.dad2016@gmail.com or call my Home: (816)689-4053 or Cell: (816)558-2695. Here is a coming events reminder for all Council members: Saturday Oct 7 th - Drive For Developmental Disabilities (Tootsie Roll Drive) at North Belt Green Hills, South Belt Wal Mart and at the 4 p.m. Mass. Sunday Oct. 7 th - Drive For Developmental Disabilities (Tootsie Roll Drive) after all Masses, Pancake Breakfast 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the St Joseph Pro-Life Walk at 2 p.m. So, you can see we will need lots of help to cover all events on that weekend. I appeal to my brother Knights and encourage those members that have not helped with any events yet this year to please volunteer to help us in these service projects on this busy weekend. For the members who are having birthday's this month, I wish you a blessed birthday. Until the next issue, God Bless you all and have a safe and blessed month. Grand Knight & District #2 Deputy John Catron

VOLUME 8, ISSUE 9 PAGE 3 Faith In Action Program Model Explained The new Faith In Action program of Knights of Columbus related activities became effective on July 1st. Faith In Action is the umbrella program of Supreme Council-recommended activities and is divided into four categories of programs: Faith, Family, Community and Life which represent the main priorities as an Order. It is intended to simplify what Councils are called to do as they provide faith-filled leadership for their families and parishes. Councils are called to develop and conduct those programs that make a difference in their parish and community by selecting from the overall list of 32 Recommended programs (see below) from Supreme Council consisting of 8 pro- *Black Box = Featured Programs grams in each of the four main program categories. Councils aspiring to receive the Columbian Award will need to earn a total of 16 program credits which must include the Required programs listed in each of the four categories. Featured programs earn two credits, while the other Supreme-Council recommended programs earn councils a single credit. Supreme Council is introducing nine new programs with their Faith In Action model that are now included in the 32 featured programs and distributed throughout the four areas. These new program initiatives are: Spiritual Reflection Program, Holy Hour and *Blue box = Required Programs Sacramental Gifts which are listed under the Faith category; Family Prayer Night and Good Friday Family Promotion which are listed under the Family category; Helping Hands listed under the Community category; and Mass for People with Special Needs, Pregnancy Center Support and Novena for Life listed under the Life category. To earn the Columbian Award, Councils must conduct one required program from each program category. These four Required programs (highlighted below) are: Spiritual Reflection (Faith), Consecration to the Holy Family (Family), Helping Hands (Community) and Novena for Life (Life).
