We had spectacular weather the first four nights and a just a little bit of rain on Sunday. We had gross receipts of $262,000 and we estimate our expenses at around $150,000. So it looks like we made a profit of about $110,000. That will pay for the Corrigan Gym s already-completed new ceiling, new lighting, paint job, and sound system. The floor will be refinished before school starts. We also have enough for the 33 school window replacements. Thank you to all who worked the Carnival (in front of and behind the scenes), bought/sold tickets, ran booths, cooked & served food, dealt cards, put up & took down and did the hundred-and-one other things that made Carnival 2015 such a great success. Carnival dates for 2016? Mark your calendars: Wednesday through Sunday, July 13, 14, 15, 16, 17! The Carnival always marks the halfway point of summer. So it is not too soon to talk about the upcoming year. Are you, or someone you know family, friend, or neighbor interested in joining the Catholic Faith? In the old days, the method was convert classes, instructions in the faith, or inquiry sessions. Today, those interested in learning more about the Church enroll in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). RCIA will begin at St Charles on Monday evenings in September, 7:45 to 9:15pm, John Paull II Room (second floor) of the Parish Activities Center. RCIA will conclude on Holy Saturday in the spring. RCIA is for those not baptized, for those baptized in other Christian Churches, or for those baptized Catholic but who have not received the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation. That dynamic associate pastor (oops, parochial vicar!), Fr Ryan Mann, will coordinate this year s RCIA sessions. No commitment is required at this time. As the Lord once said, Come and see. For more information, or to register, give Father Ryan a call at 440-884-3030.

McGivney started the Knights of Columbus in 1882 in response to the growing need to aid Catholic families; specifically for widows and orphans of men who died young, leaving their families with little means of support. He looked for Catholic men who were willing to practice charity in their communities and to stand in solidarity with the clergy. The Knights promote charity both in the home and community. We strive to be better Husbands, Fathers, Community Leaders, and most important of all Catholics. If you are male eighteen years of age or older and a practicing Catholic in Union with the Holy See, please contact Father Janoch (440) 884-3030 / ejanoch@stcharlesonline.org or Tom Armstrong (405) 651-6655 thomasralphamstrong@hotmail.com for more information on joining the Saint Charles Knights of Columbus Council.
