Page 2 Pastor Charles Geller EASTER OFFERING 2013 Dear First Church Family, Greetings in the Name of the Resurrected Lord! Our Lord is working in astonishing ways right before our eyes. He is so active and powerful! His Holy Spirit is illuminating the fields with opportunity and witness. His fire and winds are moving throughout our entire congregation. Each day is filled with joy, opportunity, and incredible blessing! What a great time to be alive in the fellowship of First UMC!! The times that we live in are extraordinary times. The challenge and opportunity before us is enormous. I can hardly sleep at night from the excitement of what each new day holds. Lake Jackson and First UMC are right in the middle of significant cultural change. All you have to do is look at our town. The demographics are changing all around us; therefore, our Church has this awesome opportunity to share Christ in a powerful way. First, UMC must reach out and seize this incredible moment. The Bible teaches us to Seek God while He may be found. Annually during the season of Easter, we have a 2 nd and 3 rd mile offering (over and above the general budget tithe). It is simply called the Easter Offering. Your generosity is deeply appreciated. First UMC is strategically placed to continue being a powerful witness for Jesus Christ. We want to share His sweet, sweet aroma with the entire area in and around Lake Jackson. The time is right. The time is now! God is moving through our community with anointed authority. I want everyone to hear and experience the Christian faith. First UMC has a remarkable heritage, and we have so much to offer people! The message we share is so valuable. This years Easter 2nd and 3rd mile offering will be used to communicate the love of Jesus to our area. We will do so through various mediums and venues. We want to use every available resource (newspaper, direct mail- outs, signs and ads, as well as other unique and creative ideas) to get this good news message out. Due to our financial constraints in the general budget, we are depending on 2 nd and 3 rd mile gifts to go the extra distance in getting this message out. You can find Easter offering envelopes in the welcome center or pew pockets. You may bring or mail your offering to the office or place it in the offering plates during the service. Thank you for being so generous, in your support of the Easter offering and your regular tithes. Peace! Find Pastor Geller and First Church on Facebook! Pastor Geller Living Balanced Taking the Word to the World Bible Study Join us for the Taking the Word to the World Bible Study at the Lake Jackson Chick-fil-A every Tuesday morning at 9:30 am. John 16 " I have told you this, so that you will not give up your faith." John 14:1 " Do not be worried and upset," Jesus told them. "Believe in God and believe also in me." It's that time of year when we hear the Easter story! A story that tells of Jesus' honesty, God's love, and promise to us all. Every day at Sunday school and church we hear stories of truth, stories of God's love, and it helps us to believe in God's promises.
