Small Christian Communities and Faith Formation Need to get connected to St Rose? Small Christian Communities (SCCs) are a fantastic way to meet fellow parishioners, in your own neighborhood, and get plugged into our Parish family. All are invited. We have commissioned seven SCCs across Ephesus, Jerusalem and Rome. We ll add more following the retreat for the communities of Galatia and Thessalonica; which started this weekend and will conclude on Nov 11th. If you live in any of these communities and want to join a community please contact Bryan in the office. Our next retreat, held at the Good Shepherd Mission, starts January 27 for the Colossae (New River / Desert Hills) and New World (outside parish boundaries) communities. Classes on the Essentials of our Faith continue! The next class will be on the Sacraments and Liturgy, Nov 15 and 16, 8:30 am to 12 noon. There is no charge for the class. Please call Renee, or the office, at 623-465-9740, if you are interested in attending so we can have copies of handouts prepared. Have you ever asked, or heard these questions, that we will address? FORMED...is a free service for all St. Rose Parishioners. Use Parish Code: 46K7XM or www.formed.org State of the Parish Reports Parish reports were handed out after last week s Masses. If you didn t get a copy, more copies are available in the Parish Office or on the Parish Website: www.stroseanthem.com If I am baptized and original sin is washed away, why do I still sin? Why can only men be ordained as priests? Why can t I just confess my sins to Jesus directly? Why do I have to go to a priest? Why do we tell non-catholics they can t receive Holy Communion when they invite everyone to participate in Communion services at their churches?

We here at the seminary have celebrated ALL SAINTS and ALL SOULS, and the season is perfect for one thing: PAPERS! But in all seriousness, I have been utterly blessed this semester, Beyond my classes, I have experienced two very important things this year already. In September, I witnessed, along with 20 or so other seminarians from Denver, the Beatification of Bl. Stanley Rother in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. Twenty two thousand faithful came to see this humble shepherd of souls recognized. But, only 15,000 were in the convention center, 2,000 in the overflow, and 5,000 faithful were turned away for lack of space. As always, you were near my heart, as I witnessed this serene and exciting event. Guatemala came back in full force as I remembered his parish where he was martyred for his love of the people he served. The other moment I desire to share with you, is the next step forward in my preparation for priesthood. On October 21st, I was installed as Lector. Yes, I am officially appointed to read at Mass. But, it is so much more than that...i have been entrusted with the Preparation of the Faithful for the worthy reception of The Sacraments of the Church. The Church residing in the Diocese of Phoenix has given me a vote of Confidence that I can bring souls newness of life by forming them to receive the Sacrament with all of their hearts. I have included a picture of me receiving from Archbishop Aquila of Denver the Holy Scriptures, that it may grow strong in the hearts of (God s) People. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Keep us all in Prayer, as we keep you and the whole Church of God in prayer as well! Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever!

From the Religious Education Department Children s Ministry We are half way through the semester of RE classes, and we have been very busy. Our Catechists and aids put on their creative hats and introduce the kids to prayer by utilizing prayer tables and prayer chains, learning through group discussion, and praise and worship. May the Holy Spirit continue its work through you. Renee Hunsaker, Coordinator of Religious Education As we continue through our Inquiry period, our Catechumen and Candidates continue to become acquainted with our Catholic Faith. Each of our individuals is unique, as the contents of faith and the tradition of the Church are presented and questions are answered. We have organized a team of individuals, under the direction of the Coordinator of Religious Education, whose focus is to assist our Catechumen and Candidates in discerning God s will for their life at this time, as well as help them through prayer and questions. Our RCIA team consists of the following individuals: Jack & Karen Henz, Co-Coordinators Fr. Noel Ancheta Joshua Baldwin Greg & Mary Gilstrap Dave Golle Dan & Betty Gregoria John & Jewel Jakob Jacquelynn Mason Terry McCoy Anna Shugars Marilou Spicer Lisa Wampler As our Catechumen and Candidates prepare for the Rite of Welcome and Acceptance, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they continue on their journey to be initiated into our Catholic Community.
