Oak St. Roanoke, TX 76262 For information contact Tonia Thompson: 817-996-2821 Board and Committee Reports Session Worship Committee is ordering new Communion ware, to replace damaged pieces, using funds from the Special Worship and Music Fund as approved last year. Worship Committee authorized the spending of $428.55 from the Special Worship and Music fund to cover costs related to the Lenten music. The Green Committee has scheduled a Shred Day for May 19th. Tarrant County Food Bank will sponsor 2 cold lunches per week for the Summer Feeding Program at 6:8. Men s Group Dinner Loveria-Taste of Italy 5615 Colleyville Blvd. Thursday, April 19, 7:00 pm Another new restaurant!! One of the reasons this Italian food tastes so good is because the pasta is shipped to this restaurant directly from Italy. Maurine and I went there and found that the food was very good. To get there, go north on Colleyville Blvd. (Hwy 26) and just before you get to Hall-Johnson, you will see a large red brick building on your right with the sign, Jump Street on the corner. Loveria is in the opposite corner on the other side of the same building. Box. Christian Education reported that the Summer Music Camp will be held June 18-21 and that a music major might be employed temporarily to assist with planning/leadership, to be approved by the Personnel Committee. The storage unit for the June 2nd Yard Sale will be on the parking lot from March 30th-June 4th. Direct deposit for employees will be set up by April. Evangelism reported that the fall shred day is scheduled for November 3rd. Summer mission trip is scheduled for July 15th-21st to Memphis They will be participating in Freedom Journey, sponsored by First Congregational Church of Memphis. Elected Linda Villarreal as the second elder to serve on the Nominating Committee. A thank-you note was read from Helen Richardson, in appreciation for Emmanuel's financial help and sponsorship toward her Young Adult Volunteer year in Scotland. Facilities Committee reported that all exterior locks to the building have been changed. Deacons A successful women s spring luncheon was held Saturday, February 17. An excellent amount of toiletries were brought for NEED. Leah Wyckoff set up a Google Docs spreadsheet to keep track of meals, calls, visits and transportation for the EPC community. Church School News Intergenerational Sessions Thank you to everyone who came to last month s intergenerational session on the Lord s Supper En la mesa de Dios/At God's Table! Special thanks to our readers Ruth Zavala, Ken Richardson, and Erica Moyo and to Tonia Thompson for helping prepare supplies for the art station! Our next intergenerational session is Sunday, May 13 th during Church School (8:45 9:45 AM) and is an exploration of Pentecost. All ages are invited to join us! Church School Class Updates Emmanuel s Children s Class made Hosanna! yard signs using bubble paint and gave away ten of them to worshipers on Palm Sunday. Emmanuel s Youth Class completed their study of the Apostles Creed and started a video-based study The Power of Youth with Rodger Nishioka that explores with youth how to live as visionaries and prophets while following Jesus Christ. The Thoughtful Christian class begins a new study on April 8 th based on the book by Dr. Dru G.I. Hart, The Trouble I ve Seen: Changing the Way the Church Views Racism. New class participants are always welcome; if you are interested in purchasing a copy of the book, contact Leah Wyckoff (klh@sbcglobal.net). 3

Youth News Events & Activities Save the Date! Kids Mission and Music Camp When: Monday, June 18 through Thursday, June 21 Where: Emmanuel and out in our community Who: Participants ages 1 st grade 6 th grade; Volunteers Youth and Adults Why: To work on service projects and learn a musical program that we will perform in the community. Youth News Events & Activities Summer Lunch Program Fundraiser: Bakers Needed The 6:8 Project is holding a Bake Sale in the Greenway Neighborhood on Saturday, April 21 st to raise funds for the Summer Lunch Program that will take place at the 6:8 House this summer. Funds will be used to purchase food and supplies for the enrichment activities offered three days a week while school is out. Last year, the Summer Lunch Program served an average of 20 children each day. If you have a favorite homemade baked good that you can make for sale, we would love to have your delicious contributions! Please contact Leah Wyckoff (klh@sbcglobal.net) to arrange pick-up of sale items.
