Happy Birthday Our happiest of Happy Birthday wishes are extended to Tristan Lowe who is celebrating his 8 th birthday TODAY!!!! We hope you have an amazing day Tristan! Tuesday, 11 th October 2016. Dear Parents and community members, Welcome back to school for term 4! I hope everyone had a restful break and are ready for a fantastic term of teaching and learning. The term 4 planner is going home next week. Please keep it in a central location so that you are aware of what is happening this term. The first of our Come and Try sessions for prospective Kinder 2017 students will be held this Thursday between 10.00 am and 11.20 am. All are welcome. I am able to confirm that our class structures for 2017 will remain the same as 2016, with the three classes (K/1, 2/3 and 4/5/6) all day, every day. We have two teaching positions currently open, with applications closing on Friday. I will keep parents informed of the process. In week 3 of this term I will be undergoing a Principal s appraisal. This process is designed to gauge the input of staff, parents and students into how effective I am in my role as Principal and to provide feedback and constructive direction. Mr Jim Rolfe, an outside consultant along with Ms Natalie Johnston, our school s consultant will be facilitating the process. This Thursday our school community will be holding a casual day (gold coin donation) in support of Team Jacka Balranald and their fundraising efforts as part of the Swan Hill Relay for Life that is being held this coming weekend. Karl is a well-respected and much loved exstudent of St Joseph s, while Cristy was a valued teacher at St Joseph s for three years. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family as he continues his fight against cancer. Congratulations and well done to the BCS Band who shared their talents with us on the last day of term 3. Unfortunately, I was unable attend the performance, but I know how much the staff and students enjoyed the show. Thanks for the kind invitation. Our very best wishes are extended to all of those students from Balranald and beyond who will soon be sitting either the HSC or VCE exams. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you finish your formal education and begin the next exciting part of your life journey. Religious Education Term 4 Altar Servers Welcome back to school for Term 4. All classes begin this term with a study of the Catholic Church s Mission to help those less fortunate. This year the theme is, Just as you did it to one of the least of these you did it to me (Matt 25:40). It focuses on the Church s work in Cambodia and children in need. The children will be looking at basic needs and comparing them to desires. We will be endeavouring to engage students in the spirit of giving, both in the spiritual sense (prayer) and the practical (fund raising). On 28 th October we will take part in Socktober. This is a fund raising activity where we raise money to Sock it to poverty. All money raised on that day will to go to Catholic Mission 2016 Appeal. We will be having three whole school masses this term. I will let you know dates as soon as I have discussed it with Father Pat. 16 th October Kaleb Richards Liam Farnsworth Sebastian Papa 23 rd October Jason Gillbee Toby Lay Glen Gillbee 30 th October Stuart Matarazzo Bree Hodgson Camden Matarazzo 6 th November April Manning Blair Manning Nicole Kayne 13 th November Kaleb Richards Liam Farnsworth Cruz Jolliffe 20 th November Jason Gillbee Toby Lay Sebastian Papa 27 th November Kaleb Richards Liam Farnsworth Sebastian Papa 4 th December Jason Gillbee Toby Lay Glen Gillbee 11 th December Stuart Matarazzo Bree Hodgson Camden Matarazzo Trish Gaston Sunday s Gospel Sunday s gospel was the story of the healing of the ten lepers from St Luke 17:11-19. Ten lepers went to meet Jesus, Master! Take pity on us. Jesus said to them, Go and show yourselves to the priests. As they went, they were healed. One of them came back, praising God and threw himself at the feet of Jesus thanking him. Where are the others? asked Jesus. Jesus tells the cured man that his faith has saved him. People of deep faith actively seek to increase it. They don t wait for God to give it to them, they pursue God and ask for it. We too can ask God to increase our faith. Lord God, Give us faith and more faith! We praise You for Your constant love. Amen. MAKING JESUS REAL Happiness comes in giving. There is a saying You can t give what you haven t got. Making Jesus Real is easy - just live it. That s what Jesus wants us to do.
