Parish News Queen of All Saints Basilica Bereavement Support Group Phase I The death of a loved one involves serious Grief Work and it can be overwhelming. Healing is not a passive event: it is an active process and requires emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual energy. It is most difficult to go through this alone. It is helpful to have fellow companions who will bring you comfort and support during this difficult journey. We offer you this opportunity. When: Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 1:45 to 4:00 p.m. at 6275 N. Ionia Avenue, the QAS Benedict Center, 2nd floor. Please use back entrance. What: An introductory meeting to include a film entitled Working Through Your Grief, followed by a sharing of experience and insight. Materials will also be available as well as opportunities for continued support. Follow up sessions will be held on five (5) consecutive Wednesday evenings from September 30th thru October 28th 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at 5820 N. Kilbourn, Chicago IL 60646. We are excited about celebrating the year of Strong Catholic Families, and all the activities connected with growing children in the faith. All families who have elected to come to class on Sundays for class, please come to the gym at 9 AM for a short prayer service, followed by class. Parents may accompany their students through the tunnel to class if they wish to see where their classrooms are located. Kindergarten students will begin their class at 9:30 AM, so they will come to the gym and be dismissed to classrooms from there. Our families who have elected to come on Tuesdays for class are invited to come to the Basilica at 4:30 on September 24 th for a brief prayer service. They will then proceed to the school for their classes. Students will receive a folder, class schedule, and a textbook. These materials should be brought back each week. Parents are encouraged to meet with their students catechists throughout the year to check of the progress of their students faith development. Any children registered in the Pre-School RE program will have a special first day on Sunday, October 13 at 9:30 AM in the Keene Building. Please note the flier in the bulletin on the Teddy Bear Breakfast to learn about this beginning event. RCIA Inquiry (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) The RCIA is a process for those considering becoming Catholic, specifically for those who are in the process of making a decision to become Catholic or for those who were baptized Roman Catholic and have not received the Eucharist or Confirmation Although we have begun our sessions for the year, please call the Religious Education Office (773-286-1939) to receive information on joining our group. The Sacrament of Baptism for infants is celebrated on the 2nd, 3rd & 4th Sunday of each month at 1:30 PM. Please come into the rectory to schedule the baptism for your child. Prior to the baptism, the parents are invited to attend a baptismal preparation session. If an adult or a school age child seeks baptism, special arrangements should be made with one of the priests.
