Bishop who a few years earlier had founded the Glenmary Home Mission Society with the express purpose of recruiting priests to serve "priestless counties" especially in the southern and southwestern areas of the United States. While recognizing the need for missionaries to bring the gospel to foreign lands, Father Bishop saw the "priestless" areas of our own nation as possessing as great a need for evangelization. (Footnote: Father Bishop, a priest from the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Maryland, studied at St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore, my seminary alma mater during the 1920s and 30s.) Since 1939 with the founding of the Glenmary Mission Society and 1941 with the founding of the Glenmary Sisters to assist the priests and religious brothers in their work, these missionaries have been serving as living examples of Christ's love in action in the rural, small town mission area of our country for over 60 years. The Glenmary Sisters, as do the priests and brothers, minister to all God's people regardless of their race, creed or lifestyle through compassionate outreach and ecumenical efforts. Next weekend Sister Aida will be here to tell us more about their ministry. She will be speaking at each Mass. If you would like to lean more about the Glenmary Sisters, please visit their website at www.glenmarysisters.org. (Additional footnote: Father Kyle Digmann's (newly installed pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas) father, Craig Digmann is a Glenmary Brother serving in Kentucky.) PRAYER & THOUGHT ST. CECILIA SCHOOL Stewardship: The crowd in today s Gospel demanded a sign from Jesus. May our faithful stewardship be a sign to others that we, like the Ephesians in the second reading, have laid aside our former way of life and acquired a fresh, spiritual way of thinking in Christ. Marriage Corner: Jesus said to them, I am the bread of Sara Rooney - Principal Tessa Leibold - Preschool Teacher Jessica Johnson - Custodian life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst. He then offers an invitation to come to him. For us, the invitation is to live the Eucharistic life in Christ. What does it mean for our parish family to live together in the Eucharist? What does it mean for us to share the Eucharist together, to participate in the bread of life together? Does it mean we love each other, support our community of faith, work together? Do we carry each other s burdens? Celebrate our joys? What are the practical implications of being good stewards of our Eucharistic life together?
