After the last survey, asking parishioners their preference of where to build the new Church of St. Mary, and the results stating the will of our community to build it on the 9 acres lot, located in between Eagle and Gypsum, given by the Archdiocese of Denver, we started moving forward forming a new Building Committee. The members from the old Building Committee where invited to be part of it, and those who decided to better give space to new blood were replaced with other new members. The final committee is formed by 10 members from our parish community. The Building Committee has started having regular meetings, and these are the decisions that have taken place so far: Regarding the Capital campaign in needing to fundraise the cost of the building. It has been decided to organize it in one capital campaign in unison with, also planning a new worship space in Edwards. Regarding the program for the new church, it will follow the previous program already approved by the former building committee adapting it to the wish of our archbishop to contemplate a worship space for 600-800 people, and the new possibilities offered by the lot, like a parking lot area, and a landscaping project, including a pathway with Stations of the Cross. The program will be adapted to the economic reality of our community, and it will contemplate possible expansions that will keep a unity with the initial architectural plan. Regarding the lot. We have consulted the city of Gypsum and they don t have any problem or concern for us to build the church in that area. We also have started to vacate the property lines and called a company to proceed with a soil test in order to have information where to best locate the building. The cost of the soil test has been donated by a parishioner. Regarding the Architectural proposal, the building committee is planning to invite 3 different architectural firms to bring their designs. The teams chosen will be the team who already did the previous project, a local team from the Valley, and another team with experience working with the Archdiocese. From their proposals we will choose the one that fits best for our needs. I invite you to put this project in your daily prayers so, helped with the will of God, the new church will be a reality pretty soon, and our catholic families from Gypsum and Eagle will receive a great spiritual growth. I will continue updating you in regards to the new church of St. Mary as soon as we have new information. God bless you. Fr.
