Chancellor s Report No Report this month. Chaplain s Report In like a Lion and out like a Lamb. We ve heard and perhaps said this phrase which, is most often associated with how we perceive the weather for the month of March. The symbols of animals in Christianity and in Catholic teachings is well documented. While we more commonly associate the Lamb with Jesus, he is also known as the Lion of Judah. This name originates back to the book of Genesis. The patriarch, Jacob ( Israel ) gave this symbol to his tribe upon blessing his son Judah in Genesis 49:9. Jesus is a descendant of King David, who was from the Tribe of Judah. The evangelists and their writings are also identified by such symbols, Matthew by the Lion, Mark the Ox, Luke by Man and John by the Eagle. All of this adds to the richness and beauty that is our Catholic faith. March 1 st begins our Lenten season, a time of prayer, fasting and alms giving. Let us also use this time to grow more knowledgeable about our Catholic faith and traditions and in doing so, we will grow stronger in our faith and closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Peace and blessing to all Deacon Joseph P. Yannotta
