Faith2Share 2016 Prayer Campaign 16-23 April Welcome to the Faith2Share 2016 Prayer Campaign - your daily prayer guide from Saturday 16 April until Saturday 23 April. This is our third prayer campaign - designed to celebrate with our members, supporters and partners the global flow of prayer for mission across the Faith2Share network. We encourage you to join us here in prayer for the next eight days. Prayer is at the heart of everything we do in Faith2Share. It is the sure foundation of mission. As we work with our members and partners around the world, every day we hear how prayer changes things doors are suddenly opened, health is restored and lives are changed. Please join us in prayerful unity to celebrate mission across the globe. Our prayer campaign this year coincides with the 2016 Faith2Share Leadership Consultation in Bangalore, India, from 17 22 April on the theme of Transforming Communities Together building effective partnerships in mission leadership for global impact. Our prayer items will include issues that will be discussed at the consultation, for which we value your prayer. We feel so blessed to be able to host this event, with many of our friends and colleagues attending. Like the 16 previous Leadership Consultations we have held since 2000, our focus is on learning from each other, fellowship, prayer and the leading of God's Holy Spirit as we go forward in mission. Your prayers will uphold us in this. Our prayer requests will be posted daily on our website, on on F2SMissionNews Faith2Share Community and Charity Number 1132707

Saturday 16 April Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way. 2 Chronicles 20:6 Looking back over the past year, we give thanks and praise God for all that has been achieved within the Faith2Share network and among our members. Key highlights include: Ongoing support for emerging mission leaders in Myanmar Bringing together mission and church leaders in North India for shared mission Support of the Lausanne-Orthodox Initiative which brings together Orthodox and evangelical leaders with a focus on mission Helping the Anglican Communion initiate a nine year focus on intentional discipleship Encouraging leaders in DR Congo by facilitating an African leaders conference (November 2015) in their context of mission and suffering Sunday 17 April Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, Tabitha, get up. She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive. This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord. Acts 9:40-42 We pray today for the global impact of mission, especially through the 6,000 mission workers within the Faith2Share network. On the eve of the Bangalore Leadership Consultation, pray for all the delegates, speakers, organisers, and those who are going to act as our hosts in Bangalore, India. Today is the Fourth Sunday of Easter, the day on which the church traditionally celebrates the witness of Dorcas (Tabitha) from Joppa who was raised to life by Peter after her death. Dorcas was so loved within her community because of the love she showed in acts of charity and kindness. Her witness to her faith in Jesus was very practical. Please pray for all those within the Faith2Share network who serve in practical ways - especially those whose service leads to tiredness and sickness. May they, like Dorcas, be raised to new life and witness.

Monday 18 April Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:4,5 The theme for the opening day of the main Bangalore Leadership Consultation 2016 is the mission context of India and the growth of Indian mission movements. We thank God for all our members and partners in India and give special thanks for FMPB s Vijay Isaac, our Asia coordinator and Rev John Wesley, our Indian trustee. John was general secretary of IEM until December 2015 (see below). Case Study: Celebrating Faith2Share member, Indian Evangelical Mission (IEM) The year 2015 was a landmark year for the Indian Evangelical Mission (IEM) as the mission agency celebrated its 50th anniversary - with lots of prayer, celebrations and new initiatives. In January 1965, the Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) was holding its national convention at Devlali in Maharashtra. During this convention, the executive committee of EFI decided to revive the missionary enterprise. And so the Indian Evangelical Mission (IEM) was born. Rev Dr Theodore Williams was its founder General Secretary. With one missionary, a few hundred rupees and a bicycle, this faith mission grew. Today the IEM family has 580 missionaries and many office staff. Rev Dr Raja Singh Elias is the current general secretary of IEM. Its mission is to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the unevangelised areas in India and abroad and to plant churches among unreached people. IEM s goal is a church among every people group and the gospel to every person. It also aims to challenge Indian Christians to realise their responsibility for world evangelisation and to recognise their partnership with other Christians in the world in fulfilling their task.

Tuesday 19 April Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. 2 Chronicles 20:6 Today in Bangalore Faith2Share leaders will be considering the role of mission against a backdrop of violence, and a world of many faiths. In many contexts around the world our partners are on the frontline and need our constant prayer protection. In Syria, other parts of the Middle East, Ukraine, DR Congo, Burundi and Sudan persecution is common place - and at the hands of the so called Islamic State has verged on genocide. Please pray for those who work for peace, bind up the wounded and counsel the traumatised especially where women and children suffer the effects of war and violence. Case study: Safir Safir is one such inspirational mission worker who has a ministry helping children and young people in Aleppo in Syria many of whom have suffered from the effects of the civil war which has ravaged their country for several years. Faith2Share has worked with Safir through the Lausanne Orthodox Initiative. As head of the Scout and Orthodox Youth movements, Safir and his youth workers help put hope back into children s lives by organising a range of activities. A highlight at Christmas sees Safir and the youth workers dressing up as Father Christmases and delivering presents and blessings to children across Aleppo. Wednesday 20 April Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. Ecclesiastes 4:9,10 Effective collaboration in mission is at the core of what Faith2Share seeks to achieve. Today in Bangalore participants will consider how they can build effective collaboration in their own contexts. This theme will also tie in with a focus on whole life discipleship. Part of our Myanmar chapter

A great example of collaborative mission is seen with our partners in Myanmar (pictured above). Back in 2012 Faith2Share was in touch with a small group of Christian leaders in and around Yangon, who each have their own ministries from pioneering mission in tribal areas to Bible schools, orphanages and youth work. Two of these leaders attended the Faith2Share Leadership Consultation in Bangkok in May 2013. This led to five leaders coming together to jointly plan mission activities in Myanmar, with Faith2Share s support. At the group s request, in May 2015 Faith2Share held its first Leadership Training Consultation in Yangon. More than 30 mission leaders from across Myanmar gathered for leadership training, fellowship, encouragement and prayer. And building on this success, Faith2Share is holding a Depth Discipleship consultation for our Myanmar chapter in Yangon on 24-27 April 2016 straight after this Bangalore meeting. Thursday 21 April The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him. Lamentations 3:25 Today at the Bangalore Leadership Consultation 2016, Faith2Share international director Mark Oxbrow will talk about the future vision of the Faith2Share network, alongside Faith2Share trustee John Wesley. Discussion will include how we better support our network members and encourage greater collaboration. Please pray for Faith2Share as we build on our work around discipleship and integrate new member missions into the network and explore how to better serve some of our Global North members. We also give thanks to God for bringing new members to our Faith2Share network including iserve Africa (Kenya-based), Kenyan mission agency Lifeway Mission International and Torchbearers International in Ghana. Case Study: IServe Africa iserve Africa is the latest mission movement to join the Faith2Share network. This Kenyan organisation was set up in 2007. Here executive director Harrison Mungai explains iserve s ethos: Our work is mainly receiving, training, sending and supporting fresh graduates who serve as apprentices in churches and other organisations in Kenya and beyond. We are an entry level-exploratory work in missions where those who do our apprenticeships mainly go on to be involved in gospel ministry/missions in one way or another. We are also involved in grassroots training of pastors and development of discipleship resources.

Friday 22 April For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Proverbs 2:6-8 Today is a day of mission training modules at Bangalore Leadership Consultation 2016. Please pray for effective training and good learning to equip leaders well for mission. The modules cover key themes in the mission field: disciple making and church planting; missiology for indigenous leadership; loving Muslim neighbours; leader to leader mentoring and sustainability in mission. We give thanks for the insights of our experts doing the training and we pray that our participants find these modules useful for the future. Two fascinating case studies will form part of the modules: Rebuilding a nation (after the Nepal earthquake) and discipleship: Alpha in India. Case Study: A ha moments in DR Congo and beyond Delegates at Faith2Share s Depth Discipleship Consultation in Goma At the Faith2Share office we continue to be amazed at how God works through our members after our Leadership and Depth Discipleship consultations. People make new connections, rekindle old friendships, share worries, swap ideas, hear about latest trends and thinking and pray together. And delegates are inspired to try new things. Two Kenyan mission leaders who met at Faith2Share s Depth Discipleship Consultation in Goma, eastern DR Congo in November 2015 have now started working together. Dr Susan Kiragu, co-founder of Children

in Freedom, led the first session in Goma on mission in a context of suffering. Another participant, Harrison Mungai, director of iserve Africa (a new Faith2Share member, see above) was so impressed that he asked Susan to visit IServe Africa in Kenya and share her message with some of the young Christians he trains to do mission outreach in Kenya and neighbouring countries. Susan reports: We shared my presentation and there were a lot of aha moments among all who listened. Harrison and I are proof that the DR Congo consultation created needful and valuable networks among participants. We will soon explore how we can contribute to their curriculum more frequently. Rev Desire Mukanirwe, mission director for the Anglican Church of Congo, also attended our Goma consultation. He was moved afterwards to take a group of mission-minded children (active through preaching, praying and worshipping) to Bukavu on a mission trip. These young disciples met local Bukavu children who in turn caught a fire for mission. These young people now want to go and minister to another part of eastern DR Congo. Saturday 23 April All the promises in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20 The Faith2Share Bangalore Leadership Consultation 2016 ended last night with a closing act of worship. As people make their way home today, we give thanks for this opportunity to share, learn, pray and worship together. Thank you Lord for all those who have uplifted it in prayer. Pray for the lasting fruit of this event and pray for everyone s safe travels. We also ask for prayer for our Leadership Consultation in Myanmar, which starts tomorrow night (Sunday) in Yangon. Manik Corea, team leader at NAMS South East Asia (a Faith2Share member), and Faith2Share international director Mark Oxbrow will lead these proceedings. Thank you for your faithful prayers for
